Looking for noise cancelling on ear headphones for music listening.
budget is max £100 and prefer cheaper, either new or happy with secondhand
On ear or over ear? I'd suggest Sony 720n for over ear. I have the older 700n and they're great. Right on budget but can be found cheaper on sale. Many reviews have them as more natural sounding than the more expensive models.
Those Sonys are great. For a slightly cheaper option, Soundcore by Anker are very good.
Q20 or Q30
Another vote for the Sony 720N here.
Soundcore q30 I think is what my children both moved to once their Beats Studio Pros had started to fall apart.
I was skeptical but they’re very effective at noise reduction and sounded good.
I found some of the Sony headphones to be too bassy (not listened to my son's Sony 720N though).
I really like my Sennheiser HD 450BT headphones - but they come in at £112. These replaced Bose headphones at £160 and the quality is far superior.
It's worth going to Currys/Argos and paying for a 3-yr warranty as headphones don't tend to last 3yrs!
the sound core Q30 are fantastic, once set up with the app the sound is great. Noise cancelling does a good job of killing the non stamp banging dance tunes at the gym I go to.
check out the YouTube audio review comparing them to the high end Bose and Sony.
My daughter is very happy with her Q30s

This^
I bought my son some Soundcore Q30s for his birthday. I was/am really impressed. My headphones are Bose QC35s, which are obviously better, but were also an order of magnitude more expensive. The Q30s were £54 and an absolute bargain IMHO. The ANC exceeded my expectations and was way better than my old Sony ANC headphones.
On the back of that I got some cheap in ear Soundcore P3i (£35) NC bud type for when I don't want to carry the Bose. I'm also really impressed with them.
Can I do a minor hijack and ask the same for in ear noise cancelling same budget for riding? I've been finding the wind noise really annoying riding (off road) and am hoping that the noise cancelling will sort it.
Another one for Sennheiser HD450BT. Wait for the up coming Amazon sale, you should get them for less than a ton.

It won't. But you could try those bone conduction things that some folk on here rave about.
As above. Wind and ANC headphones don't mix.
I have some Aftershokz bone conducting headphones, mainly bought for running but have used them for cycling. It's a weird sensation at first, like listening to a radio no one else can hear. They won't block out the wind but they might offer some distraction whilst still enabling you hear cars approaching
I got some Sony CH720N for my birthday recently and they are superb. Can be a bit bass heavy (easily fixed in the app) but the noise cancelling features are superb. Really like that it can switch automatically dependant on location and whether moving about.
Blimey. Thanks to this thread I went to the old 7dayshop.com site to see if they still had the noise cancelling phones I bought a while ago. They didn't, but I noticed a 3 item discount so purchase a few bits, including a set of "hey why not" £10 bluetooth earbuds... these: https://www.7dayshop.com/odec-od-e1-premium-true-wireless-earbuds-headphones-black
and flip me if they aren't blimmin great. I've never got on with bluetooth buds before cos they've never been loud enough. These are! I can't even turn my noise limited iPod Nano up full with them. The bass isn't brilliant, but its decent. And they fit me ears really well, better than my son's £150 Samsung jobs.
That's all 🙂
