I have a carrier bag full of disposable batteries, ready to set fire to the garage, for recycling.
Tesco recycling battery bin is overflowing and looks like greenwash to me! I am sure they will just dump them in the landfill skip.
This is all on the basis that disposable batteries are very recyclable - I am ready to be educated!
thanks
Local recycling centre.
My local tip has a battery bin, I guess most do.
Although my local one doesn't have an engine oil thingy, I have to go to Peebles to get rid of that.
If they skipped it I'm pretty sure EPA/SEPA would have something to say not to mention whoever polices the Weee regs.
My local Wilco has a bin for disposing of batteries, or at least it did. I’ve got a few I need to get rid of, so I’ll try and remember tomorrow to take them into town to see.
Aldi and Lidl both have bins in this area. Others as already mentioned^^

Not if they want to keep their waste management licence and avoid hefty fines.
Oh... tesco... as you were
Yeah off to LIDL you go ...

Buy rechargeable batteries in future?
My local bin collections takes batteries. I just have to put them in a bag and leave it with the bins. Depends on your council though.
thanks all for the advice. I have tried rechargeables and don't get on with them, unless charge insitu like my bike lights. When one cell goes dead it is nearly impossible to work out which one and you end up scrapping the lot or recharging them all every fifteen mins (xmas tree light batteries I am holding you responsible for my lack of love for rechargeable).
They collect ours with the recycling, you just leave them atop the wheelie bin in a plastic bag.
B and q have a collection point for them as well as bulbs and small electronic items. Usually behind the till by the window salesman you try to avoid

You clearly need a decent charger, 20 quid will net you a Uniross smart charger that will tell you which batteries are duff and need either left a while (if its too discharged just leaving the lot together in the charger unplugged usually sorts them out but a dumb charger will also jump start a "dead" cell.)
I have this one and aldi/lidl/IKEA batteries for everything.

The money you spend on the charger and a few pack of rechargeables is quickly recouped.
Rechargeable are a far but it does make all the difference having a charger that tells you the charge state, smart charges, refreshes etc. Someone on STW (Drac?) suggested a Technoline charger which I just checked on Amazon and I bought it in 2016. No longer available 🙂

That was likely me - the mighty BC700.
Physically at least it's not a world away from that Uniross one linked above, I think maybe it's one of those where the same basic product is available with loads of different manufacturer names.

Yes, it was. Bit late, but thanks for the tip 🙂
