Youngest son has just got an apprenticeship (woohoo) and needs/wants a laptop for basic wordprocessing, Google and online courses, so nothing heavy duty at all. He does not want a Chromebook. He won't be carrying it much, doesn't need much hard drive storage, and will usually be near power plug.

There's loads of choice and everything sounds good - any particularly good brands to go for? Recommendations? He's found the Acer Aspire 3 which he likes ...

I was in a similar situation needing one for general family use. In the end I got fed up of looking, walked into my local Entertainment Exchange (CEX?) and bought the best one I could for my budget. Comes with warranty and everything and got a stupid spec vs buying new.

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8648237 Huawei T5 looks very cheap, could have sworn that was £300 a few weeks ago, if it's the same spec model...

Or was it https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7261464 (the M6) which is still £300?

Caher, who'd you buy it from?
And thanks for the other suggestions, he's checking!
