I don't need to lose weight, but would like to keep track of my calorific intake
Also one that will tell you if you are getting a nutritionally balanced diet if they do that?
I used My Fitness Pal a few years back purely to track calories, but seen to remember it had a lot of stuff missing food wise, maybe it's got better. Didn't use it that much and guessing I won't religiously use anything I download now, but may gone it a go for a while
What are folk using?
MFP. Like you I found it it used to not have much food on it, and you'd have to guess a lot. It's got a lot better, plus you can scan a bar code. Works for me.
Eat food, not too much, mostly plants and whole grains, as many varieties as possible. Limit what comes out of a packet.
It’s not that complicated.

I'm fully aware of that, but thanks

I've used MFP before, found the database quite good. Funnily enough, I opened the app this morning for the first time in a year or so, and the barcode scanner looks to be for premium users only now?
Balls to calorie counting. Eat plenty of, but not exclusively; grass fed fatty red meat, wild caught salmon, pecan and macadamia nuts, strawberries and leafy greens. Wash that lot down with a quality black coffee and cacao, water with apple cider vinegar and some good quality salt. Fast at least 16 hours a day. Eat no grains, eat no sugar, drink no booze. You’ll sleep incredibly well, be fitter than the Butchers mutt and have energy levels off the scale.
When I do this I use the Fitbit app. To track macros rather than calories to make sure my protein intake is high enough.
I used to have a Fitbit watch so that's why I've got the app (I use Garmin watches now), but the app still seems to work fine. There is a barcode reader that seems to work reasonably well. As Fitbit is now owned by Google I'm thinking the breadth of food covered is fairly good
One trick with all these apps is to add custom meals. I make the same pasta dishes from scratch quite often so rather than put in the ingredients one at a time I save a custom meal
Lose it.
Is an alternative to MFP. A bit nicer to use, but still a pain.

While I'm sure it's well meant; this sounds like the sort of advice you see very over-defined men (who later admit a steroid habit that would fell a horse) give out on particular types of Insta accounts that are aimed at chubby and unhappy boys who find it hard to express themselves.

Turkey voting for Christmas?
I started using NutraCheck calorie counter recently. I really rate it as it uses a UK based catalogue and it's very easy to use.
We cook Gusto meals and each one is already on the app which is really useful too.
Being more ware of my calorie intake has really been eye opening at times. I've made better choices as a result.
I've averaged about 3,600 calories a day over the last 12 weeks but have also lost 4kg in that time! I'm almost back to my "best" without really thinking about it.
Another vote for Nutracheck, nice interface and it's UK based so rarely doesn't recognise a scanned food. There are lots of good pre-estimates for home cooked food as well that are generally pretty accurate.
