So, we're looking at sacking off Sky now we have a smart little black box that downloads pretty much anything we want to watch, no longer in contract to Sky but still with them at the moment.

Any broadband and phone packages or broadband only packages out there that would be rude to pass up on??

The Mrs had a quick look last night and so far Virgin and BT seem favourable, but as always, I'm up for informing the wife she was wrong yet again 😉

Cheers

Just double check BT can actually deliver on the switch day. Two weeks with no broadband here, they sold us a space in the green box at the end of the lane that didn't exist(fibre)!!

As someone stuck with BT infrastructure I wouldn't consider leaving Plusnet. Been great for me for years.

Don't even consider talktalk, I've just left them - they have put their prices up twice in less than a year one what I was under the impression was a fixed price 12 month contract. Anytime you have any problems you have to speak to someone that, whilst they speak engish they clearly don't fully understand it. I've gone with BT and although early days everything turned up on time and is working fine (fingers crossed!).

Cougar - Currently on ADSL with Sky but looking to go Fibre.

The BT 38mb, unlimited downloads, free weekend calls and sport pack (which we won't really watch tbh) has dropped to 2nd. The Virgin 100mb, unlimited package has edged out in front according to the Mrs

It continues..

Not a great surprise, but keen to reiterate what Hairybiker says don't touch TalkTalk. We have been without broadband since 14 April. TT and BT seem keen to blame each other. Was thinking of moving to BT so I wouldn't get caught between 2 sets of people again. No fibre option out here in the middle of nowhere.

Cancelled Sky a month ago and have been trying to see if I can survive on 3G. Apart from having to add a bit extra data to my mobile (sim only), it's not been too bad but not really viable long term. Swaying towards BT at the moment but deals seem to be changing all the time. Not in a rush to switch but will probably sign up next week as I'm happy with their £7.50 a month for 17mbps unlimited + £16.99 for the phone line.

Carlos, what is the black box that downloads for TV?

Check for local problems with Virgin - they seem to have upgraded everyones speed and/or taken on too many people here in Woking/Surrey and speeds and availability has suffered a lot. I have a rolling reduction in my bill until August when it should be resolved, but it is in such a state that the rep said they couldn't hold me to my contract if I wanted to leave.

I went to cancel my Sky broadband/phone the other day on the internet. Got through various questions where I basically answered that I could get a better deal from BT and then on the page before you finally cancel they offered me free broadband for a year. Doesn't come much cheaper then that!
