Hi all,

Looking for a nice campsite to stay in at some-point next Spring/Summer, probably just a night, 4 people in a tent. Quieter/more rural/more scenic the better (ie not a big campervan + family friendly site). Shower facilities would be great.

Will be driving from south so more south end of Peaks would be preferred.

Thanks,
Duane.

Pub nearby or not? North Lees Campsite is nice and rural but nowhere near a pub or shop. Close enough to Hathersage in a car though.

Not been there for a while but another vote for the Hayfield site here.

Just outside the village but very quick & easy to walk into, whilst turning right out of the entrance will have straight into the hills within moments.

Lathkill Dale Campsite at Monyash is a good option. Good pub and cafe within walking distance and plenty of good riding close by.

Callow Top just outside Ashbourne is supposed to be very good. Walking distance to Ashbourne and access to the Peaks and the Tissington Trail, and near Carsington water too. Not been ourselves, but plenty of friends have and they rave about it.

Also about ten mins drive out of Ashbourne on the A515 towards Buxton is a campsite called Rivendale. Again access to the Tissington Trail, but a bit more out in the sticks so more for those who want to get away from a big town. We’re giving this one a try next year.

Lathkill is good and very quiet. Callow top is good but it's a huge campsite with loads of kids. I like the Royal Oak at Hurdlow great food in the pub.

Pomeroy is a nice site, good facilities, camping field next to the High Peak Trail, short walk/ ride to the Royal Oak at Hurdlow if you can't get in there. Did have a D of E group on it when we were there but wasn't too noisy.
Knotlow Farm, just outside Monyash, also good. Doesn't allow D of E groups anymore, walk over fields to Monyash and the Bull.
