Size not an issue, bigger the better tbh. Must be able to play tunes/YouTube etc from a mobile device.

Best sound quality possible too?

A big ask 🙂

I really like my Sond, Bluetooth or aux input and only £18 at the moment. Ebuyer have some cracking deals on Sond products at the moment and they are British designed too!

you need to be careful as everyone has different standards, for instance everyone was saying the Bose soundlinks were great, and they are impressive for the size and better than most, but great they are not.

I guess there are different types of Bluetooth speaker - the battery powered / mobile or the fixed, bigger sound kit

I have the following and would say they are worth considering

X-mini - these rechargeable little things are fantastic for the size, can be daisy chained but are not going to fill the room!

Aether Cone - the next size up in all respects - good sound (bass not the best but more than adequate for the size) lasts around 8 hours on charge - great for moving around the house or outside - I did a recent PSA on these at £50 - they were originally £300

Zepplin Air - this is my favourite - mains only but has a good level of base and can be connected through the wifi or a jack to jack plug / ipod interface.

Hope this help!

I am sure that there are more products and opinions out there!

We bought an Audio Pro Addon T3 at xmas and it's excellent.
Not too big and quite weighty as the battery must be a decent size as it lasts ages.
Sound quality and volume are excellent.

Not that cheap but worth it IMO

With not many restrictions other than 'best' and if you're looking at a single unit then the Naim Mu-so is worth a look. Not portable, sounds very good, will work with a bluetooth signal.

If you want portable then take a look at the Beolit 15 from Bang & Olufsen.

We've got a Marshall Stanmore - excellent (to my ear) for the sort of music Marshalls are meant for...!

We got one of these Sony jobbies as a wedding present recently - hugely impressed with the sound out of a small box Sony bluetooth

Portable, non portable, single unit or stereo sound? Just Bluetooth or streaming?

Recently bought 2 Chromecasts on offer, then went back for a third. You can steam music to them and use exiting hardware, hook them into a group and have the same music all over the house. When they are on offer they are £15, sadly back to £30, but I think a 4th might be good for the garage at the moment and I reckon they are actually worth £30.

Take a listen to a Minirig. We use ours a lot and I get tempted by the 2 Minirig plus bass setup.

While we're on the subject I'm going to slightly hijack the thread, can anyone highlight any non-portable bluetooth speakers, mains powered, that are good on the bass front. Needs to sit in the kitchen so can't be too big, toaster sized max I'd say

I already have a JBL flip 2 which I love, and I rarely have it turned up more than halfway most of the time, but I'd like something with more bass

Cheaper the better, I was hoping around £100 but that's probably not enough. Will happily up budget, would prefer a 'brand name' if possible, I'm a ponce and it'll be sitting on the worktop counter

@benp1 - Got one like this last black friday for my kitchen. About toaster sized , but slimmer. Looks pretty cool and unless your kitchen is the size of b&q, plenty of bass.(oh, mines the older version of this)

The Ruark- it can be played off a mobile? I don't have internet at home.

You don't need internet to pair Bluetooth devices

As above the Ruark MR1 are not 'internet' speakers they are Bluetooth or Jack plug. So as long as you've got music on your device and BT, you're good to go.

I looked at these too

http://www.qacoustics.co.uk/q-acoustics-bt3-bluetooth-speakers.htm

But no battery option. I think they're even bigger than the Ruark.

Yup! All my music is kept on the phone and played through either the Ruark, as I am now, the Orbitsound or the car.

can't vouch for them though - just noticed that the reviews looked decent and Mackie is a well known name. Could be a bit 'monitory' though?

Had Q-Acoustics BT3 for a couple of years.

Apt-x Bluetooth, optical in from Chromecast Audio and a phono in from a Mac Mini via USB DAC. Listen to them daily, sound quality is very, very good.

Yes, that's what they'd be used for at my end. We've got their sound mixers.
