What GPS apps can you recommend for Android that do not require a data connection? I don't mind spending a bit of money on one (or free would be better!).
I have tried OsmAnd but the interface is a little clunky.
Viewranger.. buy OS tiles or use OpenStreetMap / OpenCycleMap maps..

OruxMaps.
I use memorymap, it's spot on. I spent about 20 quid, and have about 2/3rds of scotland worth of offline os maps now on the phone.
NavFree (free, OpenStreetMap), Navmii (paid, AutomotiveNavData), Sygic (paid, TomTom mapping I think)
My tracks - now owned by Google IIRC and free. Uses basic google maps but fine for keeping track of where I took the wrong turning.

+1 for Back Country Navigator.
Thanks for the answers. I have just had a look at Back Country Navigator, it seems very tailored towards off of the beaten track adventures. How good is it on roads?
