You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Rode down Barry Knows Best last week for the first time and thought that it was a bit underwhelming after what it was hyped up to be. So that got me thinking, what are people's favourite and least favourite trails on leith, holmbury and pitch. Obviously they are all great in their own way, but would be interesting to hear some arguments.
Mine would be:
Worst: Jackie Brown - A good beginner trail but very boring and pedally once you get better.
Best: Lower Telegraph Road - Lots of small drops and some nice corners are really fun once you get some speed up 🙂
I've only ridden a fraction of them and don't know the names of many, but I remember "Two Towers" being one of my favourites on a recent visit.
Don't know enough to pick a worst.
There are no good trails in Surrey....they’re all rubbish...honestly guv...no point in coming here at all😉.
Rule one of the Surrey Hills . . .
Some of the best trails in the Surrey Hills aren’t on Holmbury, Pitch or Leith Hill.
My favourite is Bobs Chocolate Hairbrush. Steep and techy and descends all the way back to the start. Bit like Eschers staircase.
Not a fan of Danny Devitos Donkey.
@choppersquad Trying to find out what the youngsters are riding these days 😉
Mahoosive gap jumps from what I gather.
Yeah i liked Barry's when I 1st started riding there but not anymore. Too many ace ones to list though and don't have a favourite.
Worst trails are the ones the absolute bellends from MBR keep modifying. Ruining great trails to dig ‘features’ with the effect that they get flattened.
Crackpipe for me
I only ever ride Barry's as a link trail to get somewhere else. Now for my favourite stuff, I'm not telling 😁
It must be 30 odd years since I rode the Surrey Hills we didn't have any names for them then, just rode to our hearts content.
a few good ones have been closed down recently due in part to everyman and his dog descending on Peaslake during lockdown. I blame youtube! seems everybody has a channel and wants to show you how rad they are.
all the carparks were rammed today, but interestingly the trails were quiet, then i noticed how many bikes were parked outside the pub.
hopefully the majority will go back to drinking and shopping full time and we can get to ride some nice trails without having to batter our way through the endless braking bumps that have now appeared on every corner.
The best trails are a long way from Peaslake and fortunately most people cant be bothered to venture too far.
