Bercow joining the Labour Party? Of course it will be mentioned, repeatedly, by the Tories, especially in Batley and Spen.
You can be sure that the voters of Batley and Spen will be constantly reminded that the man who tried to frustrate both the referendum result and parliament has now joined the Labour Party.
Bercow joining the Labour Party was a great coup for the Tories. They can only hope and pray that Starmer sends him to canvass in Batley and Spen.

The criteria for being in the cabinet are a willingness to blindly support the PM and the rest of the cabinet (including any unelected SPADs who control them). I agree there may be people who are even worse that BJ, but that’s like saying “don’t complaint about being punched, I could have kicked you”
He's been more Labour than Tory for years. An odious little man with a massive chip on both shoulders who has one objective - self aggrandisement. Whether its whoring himself to the media, after dinner speaking or his belief he should have a peerage for duties to obstructing but failing to stop a democratic vote, he doesn't mind, he'll take it all. He's just the kind of person Labour needs to reconnect with the average voter who normally would vote for them but doesn't....

Being a tennis coach seems considerably more worthy than the usual process, which just involves a cheque book (designer wallpaper went pay for itself!)

It's all about Berkow - it is the fact that he has been turned down for peerage that has prompted the move not the desire to chance the world.

The only person who thinks this is a coup is John Bercow.
Bercow is too easily dismissed by the prats as he is a clear dyed in the wool remainer.
What the grownups need is a defector from the Brexit fanboys/gals, but that will never happen because they are only there because of either:
1) Their sheer stupidity in still genuinely believing in this nonsense.
2) Their willingness to hitch themselves to this nonsense to advance their own careers and/or the bank balances of their mates.

Sometimes that might be the case for MPs as well. I admire MPs who travel everywhere by public transport, but can't claim I'd have the courage to do so myself in their position.
Oh... and don't forget the current trend of using government limousines to ship minister's documents "around town" while they choose a more egalitarian looking means of transport themselves. So the money is still spent, the limousine journeys still happen, the carbon is still burnt, but the minister isn't inside. Did someone say "virtue signalling"?!?

I would argue that whether he frustrated parliament or not is irrelevant given that the government at the time illegally prorogued parliament. What is relevant is whether labour PR can learn to spin such things properly in modern media.
