Not stopped there as it's on the way to Ypres, bust we really should and Poperinge's a lovely town!

Visited the WW1 sites last year and just completed a trip around the Normandy area. Only had limited time but its another area well worth a visit taking in local cemeteries, museuems, beaches, fortifications and towns/villages.

Our drama group is doing The Accrington Pals this week - went to Serre where their memorial is and saw the battlefield and some of the cemeteries where they lie. Fascinating, haunting, and completely and utterly impossible to reconcile the sunny, crop-laden rolling farmlands with what it must have been like.
