My usual beer supplier is having unsurprising post-Brexit supply issues.

They’ve no Palm in; is anyone able to recommend a similar amber ale; preferably in 250ml bottles as I’m getting old?

Ta!

A bit expensive I know but the mini yard/ test tube is essential, product replenishment is cheaper after that. It might be from the Netherlands though.

edit - It is Belgian, no I idea why I thought it wasn't

edit edit - it's not top fermented though.

Beer hawk is my usual supplier of palm.

I get pissed off it's like a euro over there and 3 here!

I'd love to get a pallet imported and stick it in my shed.....

You've given me something to do while vaguely watching the football.

List of Belgian Pale Ales (which apparently Palm is)
https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/styles/54/

Grimbergen looks close, 5.5% and comes in 250ml apparently.

Try St.Feuillien from M&S - £2.50/33ml bottles
Strong at 8.5% but I like it - they do a Brown & Blonde.

Grimbergen is made by one of the big megacorps - Carlsberg I think. I was at a brewing conference sponsored by them. It was, unsurprisingly, a bit bland...

Get your passport out and go get a couple of boxes of Westvleteren Blond, get some 12 while you're there because it's very very nice indeed.

Not familiar with Palm, but a fan of Belgian beer too.

I've had some good beers in the same style by UK craft brewers in the last couple of years though. 6 degrees did one called General Classification which was excellent. Also had a quadrupel from St Mars of the Desert, and a tripel from my local, Anarchy, both really good. Unfortunately some or all of these might be limited runs, but I've seen the Anarchy in a few places. Recommend finding a local bottle shop and seeing what they've got. Ask them if they've got any Belgian style in, they'll probably know.

yep, it's why i really struggle to justify buying any over here. I normally do 1 or 2 visits to Ploegsteert a year for a car load. As soon as restrictions are lifted im off.. Though annoyingly only allowed 41 L of beer for personal allowance - as me and missus aren't married, do you think we'll get away with 82L??

slightly back on topic - though not an amber by any Stretch, Kasteel is a strong triple with a surprisingly quafffable side to it - just be careful it's 11%.. I found 2 bottles in my garage the other week - i was over the moon.

Brugse Zot

I came here to say just that. I tried it for the first time in Bruges in a lovely little bar overlooking a canal. I believe it's the only beer that is still brewed in Bruges?

How about Chimay? Brewed by Belgian Trappist monks, IIRC, and needs to be treated with the utmost respect! One is about 10%abv, another is around 14%abv - falling over water indeed!
Yes, Trappist brewers https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimay_Brewery
The strongest is 10%

Chimay Red, 7% ABV. In the 75 cl bottle, it is known as Première. It is a dark brown colour dubbel and has a sweet, fruity aroma.
Chimay Blue, 9% ABV darker ale. In the 75 cl bottle, it is known as Grande Réserve. This copper-brown beer has a light creamy head and a slightly bitter taste. Considered to be the "classic" Chimay ale, it exhibits a considerable depth of fruity, peppery character.
Chimay Triple, 8% ABV golden tripel. In the 75 cl bottle, it is known as Cinq Cents. This crisp beer bears a light orange colour, and is the most hopped and driest of the three.
Chimay 150, 10% ABV blonde ale. Originally brewed as a special, 150th anniversary ale, now in regular production. Noted for its spicy, smoky character.
Chimay Dorée (Golden), 4.8% ABV ale, brewed from very similar ingredients as the Red, but more pale and spiced differently. It is a patersbier, intended only to be drunk at the Abbey. Since 2007 it was available at the nearby inn Auberge de Poteaupré, which is associated with the abbey.[9] The monks themselves drink this variety rather than the stronger three. Prior to 2015, it was unusual for bottles of the Chimay Dorée to be available outside the Abbey or local inn. However, from 2013, a limited quantity of this beer was sold on draught in the United Kingdom, at 19 Fuller's pubs[10] and in Italy, where only 50 pubs sell this variety of beer, as well as in 330 ml bottles in some export markets.[11][12] In the Christmas season of 2016, Chimay made available a gift set with all four varieties and two chalices,[9] and since has been available in limited quantities in the USA.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the most famous of all Belgian beers so I give you...
Stella Artois!

Returning to proper Belgian beer - https://www.belgianbeerfactory.com/en/belgian-beer/
More than 2,100 listed over 89 pages; 1,400 different styles of Belgian Beer.
Now the bad news...

To which countries do we ship our beers?

Due to strict EU rules on alcohol sales, we only ship our beers with alcohol to BE, NL, DE and all countries outside the EU, except the US, Canada, UK and Australia.

So we don't ship alcoholic drinks to UK, FR, SE, FI ... Hopefully this will change soon.
