I've noticed several honey bees coming out of the gaps around a fireplace in an upstairs bedroom.

Putting my ear to the metal fireplace surround reveals I have a very noisy and 'large?' Colony in the chimney.

We do not use any of the chimneys and downstairs is blocked off.

Any ideas of how to move these valuable but unwanted insects on to another des res?

try & contact your local bee keeping association, I'm sure they would want to try to help, though a nest up a chimney might be a bit problematic. Could be a case of leave em to it this year & evict them come winter (block up access).. ask the experts...

contact your local council, they should have a bee officer or similar, who should arrange someone to come and take them. local bee keepers are always looking for new swarms.
