Had a great weekend at Sopwell House spa with the mrs.

Come back and this eve my throat is so sore hardly swallow like tonsillitis ... Could it be connected to steam rooms/ sauna actually relaxing for the first time In months and my body saying ah a rest immune system down...

Or just unlucky I had the sore throat coming anyway?

Got work in the morning...

It's going around. Probably nothing to do with the spa.

You're as likely to pick up germs in a spa as in any other public place I suppose. Apply whisky liberally to the affected areas.

Why walk in centre out of interest?
Generally tonsillitis doesn't need treating.
Paracetamol and brfufen from chemist, rest in bed etc etc...

If it's any consolation... I've just started my holiday with a cracking sore throat and headache... 🙁

I get tonsillitis at least twice a year and it completely debilitates me rendering me useless unless treated, normally I have symptoms before hand but funnily enough not yesterday !

Back from the walk in centre with my prescribed clarithromycin 500mg (cant take penicillin) sitting at work which I have no choice to be at today...roll on 1.30pm so I can get the drugs and sleep ( if my family let me)

POSTED 2 HOURS AGO # REPORT-POST

Why would that give him a sore throat? My understanding (from less reputable friends, obviously) is that "happy endings" involve a manual climax rather than oral hence "rub and tug".

But in reality you've had less than a day of symptoms.
Tonsillitis and cold symptoms last 7-10 days, mostly, regardless of if you have medicines from the doctor, homeopathy from the quack, of BBQ sauce from McDonalds.
Yes, there are some specific signs that would indicate additional treatments are needed (Which you may have had - this is a 'general statement')

Obviously I'm not in a position to comment on your specific case, but this site contains lots of useful information on managing sore throats etc:
NHS Choices.

A massive challenge facing general practice at present is the 'belief' that "I won't get better unless I've had antibiotics".
However, the evidence suggests otherwise (in the majority of cases, hence the outcome of a clinical assessment is most likely to be NOT to issue meds).
Often what people need to do is: rest and take time off work. The failure to do this is likely to result in a prolonged infection - antibiotics are, on average based on most clinical cases, likely to be innefective in shortening the duration of symptoms.

It's like expecting your sprained ankle to get better with ABx "because you're too busy to rest it".

I'm not sure what the answer is really. I suppose OOH GPs and Walk in Centres need to tighten up their prescribing (they have no 'long term investment' in educating the patient population (as it generally takes a longer consultation to fully inform and explain reasons NOT to prescribe in the first instance, but then evidence suggests that people learn to self manage more appropriately, and present with these conditions less in the future)).

Anyway, heal well, rest up, keep up the fluids, and report back when you're feeling better!

If I drink orange juice I get sore throat and flu like symptoms. I used to think it was aircon that gave it to me but realised that I tended only to drink the stuff on planes or in hotels and presentations which was where I was subjected to ac. Fortunately its only oranges not lemons or limes. Although I do feel a bit ill if I drink too many caipirinhas, mojitos or margaritas.
