I don't particularly like whisky. I do like rum.

Now, for many, it's a summertime drink. But what better way to cope with the darkness of winter than a glass of sunshine?

Current bottle of Angostura 1919 is nearly gone, so it's time to get something new.

I could cut straight to the chase and get some Ron Zacapa XO (because it is lovely, albeit expensive), but before I do what other dark rums would you choose?

I am loving my bottle of Dos Maderas Px 5&5 at the moment, well not right now as at work, but maybe tonight now you have put it in my head! 🙂

Found Flor de Cana in Sainbury's - not tried it since Central America 8yrs ago. It's VERY mellow. I was actually a little disappointed. It didn't compare well to Black Seal.

Having drunk all the cider I could fit in during last Sundays mid-ride pub stop, I started on their collection of rums. I like a tot of Morgan Spiced in the hip flask for night rides, but the Mount Gay opened up a whole new world of exploration for me. Sailor Jerrys wasnt as good, and I don't remember the rest, so bookmarking this thread for future reference. 😀

wait..what?

I'm dimly aware that Pimms seems to show up at too many BBQs but drinks have seasons? I feel I've missed out on calendar based drinking etiquette here!

when am allowed, say...red wine, Stella and Heroin (for example, if one were to concoct such a thing) and not feel out of place?

Evening. I'm a huge Rum fan. Cockspur is my go-to cheap Rum. Mount Gay the light, smooth and Appleton (why?) makes me doolally! (why?).

Didn't know Mount Gay did a XO. Where
from? Lambs/captn Morgan are grim for different reasons

Barbados.

Or Tottenham if you know where, slightly cheaper than online. About £22.

This thread sparked my interest in getting a bottle of rum , as a change from the "occasional" single malt whisky..

This afternoon went shopping for some Christmas drinks stock.

Saw a bottle of spiced Sailor Jerry and bought it.

Just opened it, one ice cube, 5 minutes to breath, and just had a taste.

Ummmmm, nice, I can see more sampling and different brands being purchased.
