So same as last time? Lots of internet tough guys saying it's all fine then going real quiet as they are stuck in snow overnight....

Let's see if a few more follow the advice

Unless this is a bogey man for Russian defectors who should also follow serious precautions and stay at home for a bit

If it's any consolation, I have the feeling that this summers going to be absurdly hot, if that's your 'thang'.

I had one of those Cannondales back in the day - a blue and purple Beast of the East frame with Pepperoni rigid forks. Great bike!

And approximatley 1/6th of UK gas supply comes from Russia wo we are no longer friends with!

but if its a repeat of last time, for me it will be two days of compulsory working at home to combat a mild frost

Yeah there was a bit of a feeling amongst some that it was all made up, some even thought it was all made up to sell the 'myth' of climate change... then temps fell to -10c (including windchill) and large bits of the UK were balls deep in snow almost over-night.

As one of STWs resident weather geeks I'd like to pitch in that the last one was a major event, but only in so much as it was very late in Winter for it and, as above it was very unusual weather for most of the UK at any time.

This one will be much milder and much shorter, partly because of the weather and partly because now we're in Spring a temp of 6c below seasonal averages is 'only' -1c not -6c.

In short, if you're planning to head out this weekend it's going to be more like riding in Dec/Jan than mid-March - +4c highs and lows around freezing with the chance of some light snow on high ground and sleet maybe lower down.

Or, as the real world calls it: “chilly for a few days…”

It was -12 in the home counties*, even those warmed by their own sense of self righteousness must have to admit it was 'a bit more than a bit chilly'.

*and before the northern contingent chip in, Scotland ground to a halt.
