Currently rocking the full vagrant/Manson family look - hair halfway down my back and full Uncle Albert/PostieRich/Ed Oxley/RocketDog number.

I like it, but Mrs S reckons it's like being attacked by an over enthusiastic bog brush.

So, how long is too long?
How short is too short?

Don't have an account to post pics, but think of Cousin It and you won't be far out.

Suggestions?

Have booked myself in tomorrow with a friend who's suggested a bit of layering of the Barnet, trimming the sides of the beard and keeping the length.

Willing to post pictures if anyone can suggest a suitable photo hosting site or happy to stick some pictures up.
🙂

Just for reference I'm short, fat, and will be dressed up as Santa for the kids at the works do.

Not a chance.
It's an awful lot longer than that.
The long hair is staying and I bloody hate Cheshire.
Wrong drugs for a start.

Nice cheese though.

Get a mini strimmer to take care of wayward hair. You need to free style it though without a guard.

Use a regular razor to shape the neck lines.

I use a Gillette buzzer, cheap but it works, and it uses the same batteries that my wireless mouse does, so I don't have to worry about it going flat as I have them on rotation.

Ok, but what's classed as 'wayward'?

That looks like a nasty scar, but the surgeon did a very good job.

The longer you want your hair the more time you have to spend keeping it neat imo. The long and untrimmed tramp look is rarely a good one.

I think we may be talking cross purposes here.

Angry dolphins?

Get it trimmed and tidied up, everyone's a winner. Think Dave Grohl rather than Frank from Shameless.

Keep both but tidy them up. I had an epic beard for years and cut it off earlier this year. It’s coming back though. I’d do the basics myself and visit a good barber once a month for a proper tidy up. I’m bald so keep the hair for me 🙂

Short back and sides if rocking a full beard IMHO

Long hair or no hair I reckon

Be very careful Rusty_Spanner, it could all go horribly wrong. Check out what's happened to Peter Sagan and his luscious locks.

like achillies i always feel weak after a hair cut.

Normally i keep the winter beard under control how ever thanks to the fact i no longer have an office job ive just let it go ferral to see how it looks.

it looks shit.

leaving it till after strathpuffer before i deal with that fact though.

It’s where he keeps his pajarmas.

I thought you were only doing this to wind us baldies up, and the novelty would have worn off by now?

the standard method is

long hair - short trimmed beard
long beard - short trimmed hair
long beard long hair - not looking after yourself vibe

so I would neaten the beard to a consistent length if you are going to keep longer hair, the layers sound like a good idea

postierich has got it right. Very smart for a shorter style. I have long hair to just below shoulder, and a thickening beard. Work is easy to find this time of year #nativity

I have been, at various times in my life, been likened to Russel Brand, Jesus of Nazereth, 'all of the Kings of Leon at once', Kid Rock and Lars Ulrich amongst others. Sometimes in a single day/4am kebab shop. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger they say.

the standard method is

long hair - short trimmed beard
long beard - short trimmed hair
long beard long hair - not looking after yourself vibe

so I would neaten the beard to a consistent length if you are going to keep longer hair, the layers sound like a good idea

sound advice.

That advice would be sound apart from the fact that beard in postierich’s image isn’t long.

Damn right.

Had half the hair off and the beard just hides the chins.
Easier to manage, but no free soup.

Postie’s scar is from where he had his haggisectomy

Just neaten that beard up. I’m also growing my hair, no real reason, just to see what it’ll be like/laziness/useful to have it in readiness for a comb over

On the plus side TR, if you're in a slightly dodgy part of the world, you are rocking the US 'contractor' trying to blend in look...
