I'm hopefully going on a beach holiday this summer with a bunch of adults and kids. It's a sparsely occupied pebbly beach which is lovely BUT there is no shade at all which means the kids (and me, who hates the sun) will fry.

Can anyone recommend a beach gazebo or large sunshade or similar? Ideal characteristics are:

- probably 2x2m or 3x3m in size

- popup (because although it's not a busy beach, it wouldn't be OK to leave it up overnight)

- packs down into bag etc that won't take up too much space in a car boot

- inflatable rather than metal frame (if that's gonna make it easier to erect every morning)

- not a million pounds

I've always been a bit envious of Decathlon inflatable stuff (mental note: must aim higher in life). Would this be any good?

If this is UK you're being very optimistic planning for a week of sun!!

If abroad then that's all your baggage allowance gone!!

And wouldn't a tarp (with appropriate pegs) be a cheaper and lighter solution?...

...and how windy is this location likely to be?

We use a UPF 50 tarp - easy to carry, incredibly effective, ours probably isn't as big as your requirenents but I'm sure bigger ones are available. They just need a bit of practice in setting them up - first time we tried it sagged like billy-o,so now Mrs Pondo insists on taking a parasol to put up underneath and prop it up. 🙁 No need, I don't think.

Thank you - seems like a tarp and poles would be a better idea!

This is not for the UK; I'm not flying there; and it will be moderately windy...let's see how it goes!
