You know how it is, you're minding your own business in the garden, when a frozen corpse hits the ground a metre away from you...

Grim, but more common than you would imagine, I'm afraid. Surviving Everest altitudes is unlikely.

Seemed to happen a lot more in the past. This the first one I’ve heard about in the UK for quite a while. I’m assuming security has been beefed up a lot since 9-11 and this has been a side benefit.

GtiJunior has just moved into a room in Twickenham, right under the flight path. Hope nobody drops in on him....

Looking at that wiki link I am amazed that a few folk have actually survived.

Looking at that wiki link I am amazed that a few folk have actually survived.

Is that not primarily due to the Altitude? and I suppose flight time also...

First couple on the list survived in the wheel wells of DC3's in the 40's Which had a much lower ceiling around 22,000 ft? where later passenger jets from the late 50s onward went higher for and for longer...

For a lot of the later survivors the list seems to note altitudes at or below 35,000ft, a couple managed at 38/39,000ft so more short haul flights perhaps?

I note there seem to be more documented instances in recent years, but the survival rate looks to be dropping...

Horrible.
I can't imagine the person who was sunbathing is in a rush to get back out there either.
I used to live in Clapham in the 90's.
I'm sure there were tales of lumps of ice & aeroplane debris landing in gardens then. Railway arms& Mistress P's were crackers btw.
