WTAF is that all about? Genuinely appears to be an animal cruelty show...who thinks spray painted ears and tail with nail varnish on claws and glitter is good?

On in room that has been emptied and TV left on playing to itself, I've just gone in and say this on the screen...

Who thought this was prime quality TV for BBC 1???

I liked the description Ru Paul's Drag Race with dogs.

But, you know, if like me you can't stand the idea, don't watch it.

Someone who is looking for something which can be easily socially distanced?

It's for all those "Pandemic pooch" ****z innit...

TBF not everything on the Beeb has to be good, I once watched 3 minutes of 'the one show' for example, that's a apparently thing still.
But they do need to make some programs for the great unwashed (the precise wording in the charter I believe). Right now chavs all over the UK are acquiring cutesy wittle woof-woof fwends, and they'll want to play dress up and put lipstick on them before dumping them on a local charity. So It's very topical when you think about it...

Watched the Malamute episode as we have a similar double coated artic dog - that was basically a full episode of people brushing dogs so a bit 🤷🏼‍♂️ the other episodes make me glad I have a 'proper' dog that I don't feel compelled to paint and daube in glittery shit!

I decided to watch Ru Paul's Drag Race despite expecting to hate it and some of it made me laugh so much really quite enjoyed it. Draw the line at a dog show though.

It was on when I popped home earlier it has been every weeks as there seems to be nothing else on around that time. I have no idea if there is as I usually have the PS5 on or Netflix and such like. Big dog fans in our house so it’s nice seeing some dogs but tonight’s made me glad I have a proper dog.

Watched the Malamute one as one of the contestants, Lackhi used to do our doodle in Birmingham.

Crikey that presenter lady is a bit annoying 😉

One of my few prerequisites when we were looking for a dog was "it must not need a hair cut" 😀

The female judge was our dog’s groomer and she was very good. Now she’s got her fame we’ve had to go elsewhere and our bloody dog comes back looking like a golden Brillo pad. 😹

Caught the kids watching it when they should have been in bed.I did pre warn the wife that if the dog has blue ears and nail varnish on in the morning , I think I might know why 😂

Dog grooming is something that needs to be done for a lot of breeds.
Pretty much the same as person needing a haircut, yes you could just leave it to grow how it wants and look a mess but 99% of people choose to cut it and when they cut it they have a style applied to it.
This is just like a hairdressing competition, can't really see anything wrong with it.
Spray painting and nail varnish are not part of that but guessing that was a one off

But why do they always do THAT to poodles?
That bouffant thing is so utterly ridiculous.

The poodle on the Malamute episode looked so much better before. Now it looks like a dick.

Haven't watched it, but caught glimpses as the tv has been on (with no-one in the room!), so I've gone in to turn it off. Completely get dog owners wanting to keep the dog coat tidy and trimmed, but from the brief things I've seen, it appears to be some form of cruelty for the animal - the cut and trim is probably good but the decorations? Why? It just doesn't look right.

Thankfully I'm not a dog owner (although live in a house with a large dog) so this kind of thing isn't on my radar, but if I was a dog owner myself, I wouldn't be subjecting the animal to that kind of thing - obviously my opinion, but I don't understand why people would think that was a great idea.

Anyway, I've found other things to rant about now, so I'm sorted!

It would actually be more cruel to not wash your dog, remove undercoat along with picking up things while washing and cutting (groomers pick up a lot of things (i.e. skin problems, sores) that the owners were not aware of.

Not into the decorations though.

We are very nearly at the 'Monkey Tennis' and 'Youth Hostelling with Chris Eubank' phase of the TV cycle, though.

Does it pay rent?

You've not got me regretting the decision to dump the TV licence folks.
However I suppose it is time to do a guerilla raid with the clippers and sort another nail on the dog (one at a time then I hide the clippers and deny deny deny anything was going on).

Our Karelian Bear Dog isnt ment to be washed - their outer coats have a large amount of oil in them. On the odd occasion we have washed him he stinks for a good few days after as his glands/follicles/miniature oil refinery goes into bonkers overdrive to replenish his coats oil.
They are self cleaning - mud and dirt drop off him when he dries out.
