Following on from the Claire Balding chat.
No black or ethnic minority anchor on any of the Olympic coverage.

Token presenters only.

Why can't Denise Lewis be the anchor?

Because Clare is better at the job (and does not need to dress up like party girls unlike two of the others?)

Denise Lewis is not very good at presenting, even in a bit part role. Michael Johnson is usually excellent, is he not part of the BBC team this time?

I love these threads as someone always says "I love these threads cos it shows who all the racists are". I'm holding my breath until someone says it.

Oh and don't forget Jason Mohammed

The OP said anchor, not presenter.

They made it real specific in order to fit their narrative.

Why are there so few with traditional BBC accents speaking the Queen's English?

Honestly standards, they will be wearing no underwear (allegedly) next...

Silly me, I'm wrong I'm soooo sorry of course CB is on 18 hours a day

Im well aware what the OP stated. Both are anchors. If you bothered to watch the coverage other than the time frames that CB anchors you'd see them (if you really are struggling then JM is usually on BBC 1 from Midnight and OO on BBC 4)

Given that there is only one anchor job going, and whomever gets the 'job' has to have a skin colour, seems this thread would have happened either way? Either the ops view or the Suns view above.

As Claire balding seems to be the Beebs standard choice for most sports events (Christ they pay her enough, we need VFM!) I hardly think it's pitchfork time.

Well to be fair they have one "-ism" covered (multiple times), they can't do them all

And it probably is down to who is best at the job after all....

Nope - but judging by the Claire Balding thread, Singletrack users have a long way to go to embrace full sexual equality.

Ron McIntosh and Richie Woodhall do the boxing commentary, one black , one white, one posh, one brummie. Bloody racists. And and and they're both over 6 ft. Heightists.

before you get upperty about presenters check out the sports teams.. what about the 8 blokes in the canoe.. all white and posh. golfers? badminton? equestrian? sword fighting? swimming? not a single athlete of colour in the gb teams? seems the only sport i see parity is boxing..

Yes but the BBC have repeatedly allowed Warwick Davis to do stuff on TV which brings the average height among their sport and light entertainment personalities well within that of the UK.

[img] [/img]

And it's nice to see someone that impressively short providing entertainment other than porn.

Mind you if I was 42 inches tall getting paid to have sex with stunning porn stars would be the only perk I'd be interested in - I can't think of many other perks.

Juno, I hadn't thought of that. And being over 6 foot, cinemas, trains, buses, and planes, have always presented problems.

So you can relax and stretch your legs whilst traveling between porn shoots. I'm starting to get envious.

Well of course they're never pick athletes to represent their country based purely on skin colour or ethnicity rather than the very best ability at their chosen sport now, would they? 🙄

Just perhaps senior management looked in the diary to see who was available and who had the most experience for the presenting job, its in no way racist

No white sprinters i assume and i bet very few athletes from track and field

It is interesting the "ethnic" element to sports but its not racism its just talent or opportunity

Anyway golf is on now that will surely redress the gender and race bias

Forget the Olympics, I'm still reeling from the fact that Steph who does BBC breakfast business and murders every vowel possible, has been promoted to the main sofa! Surely token Norvens, should only be allowed token parts?

The high profile BBC presenter Sarah Kennedy claimed that black people made good athletes because they were used to running away from lions.

Mind you that and some other choice comments such as that she could not spot a black man in a dark street until he opened his mouth eventually got her the sack from the BBC.

Why it took them so long to sack her I don't know. It probably proves that the BBC is racist. Although I thought you had to be a politically correct left-wing trot to work for the BBC. It's all very confusing. ITV don't seem to have this problem.

It's not surprising that the ****er sports are overwhelmingly done by posh white ****ers. (and more seriously, stuff with infrastructure and kit requirements will always be more accessible to well off people, not that many people from a housing estate in saff london get a pony for their 8th birthday) So this stuff isn't racist or elitist, it's just capitalism.

Exception to every rule, etc.

Steve Redgrave, a builder's son. Hardly born in to the landed gentry.

See also Mohamed Sbihi.

Now, I agree that these are slightly outliers in the pack, but how many privately educated top level soccerists are there, for comparison?
