MrsRNP loves EastEnders, I occasionally glance up at it from STW.

One thing that piqued my interest is props. Stacey's daughter (?) Lily gets some trainer's - cue unboxing and the most hideous brandless trainer is presented to an ecstatic Lily.

Also noticed the unheard of brands/titles magazine in Suki's (?) shop.

I'm guessing the props department makes such things but....

Did they make a full trainer from scratch or is it a lesser known brand?

How often do the magazine's covers change?

Its no wonder I can't sleep with questions like this whizzing round my brain!

More then likely a footwear company will produce a batch just to be used in TV/movies and the buying department will pick from there.

Same will go for everything used unless sponsored. Unbranded food cans, drinks cans etc.

No1 son works for BBC at times. He once relabeled a slab of tins of baked beans with new labels that were close looking to Happy Shopper but not quite.

Sticking with the BBC, on Cbeebies' Maddies do you know did an episode on trainers and they came out un branded from a UK factory.

Here's a link to her YouTube channel but she can also be found on iPlayer

It's the Lycos/Netscape Navigator style browsers and search engines that are my faves. 🤣

Found a photo of said trainers - MrsRNP said she liked them. I asked for a divorce.

They look like Nike Air Huarache to me, in an unbranded box.

Edit - Great trainers. I've got a pair (in grey).

🤷‍♂️ I live in Vans of the MTE, Chucka and slip on variety.

Instantly recognisable

I need a link! Perfect present for MrsRNP and her upcoming 50th birthday......

Correct! As I’ve done a lot of advertising design, over the years, for one of the biggest sportswear retailers (not that one, the other one), I’d have trainer recognition as my chosen subject on mastermind

These are indeed the sort of monstrosities favoured by ‘da yoot’ nowadays

If my theory holds true that you continue to wear the style of trainers you’re in at 18 for the rest of your life (I own an inordinate amount of different coloured New Balance 574’s) then the youth of today are going to look ridiculous when they get older 😂

Here you go

That particular (hideous) colourway looks like a limited edition job. You’d be amazed how quickly they sell out. You can get on Nikes mailing list and they can let you know when they ‘drop’ 😳

My 15 year old bought a hideous pair of Air Force Ones with birthday / Christmas monies .
Im not adverse to spending a bit on a pair of daps, but these were particularly offensive on the eye for that sort of money.

after his mate had his stolen at knifepoint , he decided to get shot and even made a profit selling them on  vinted .

wish I had kept trainers from my youth, I had air Jordans in the early nineties. Worth a bloody fortune now 🤦‍♂️

One of the guys in my local RC Club is a prop designer for lots of the big companies and he has told me about how some of the big brands will go to great lengths to make unbranded versions of their products to be used by the BBC. He did a lot of work on Dr Who and Torchwood where companies knew that the cosplay people would quickly hunt down the products used to make the costumes, those products usually sold out after the episodes aired. The same thing is done on films where product placement deals haven't been done, they will use unbranded versions to avoid giving anyone free publicity. Can be simple things like removing labels on jackets, no branding on a phone and the DH rider's favourite of a Sharpie on using products that they have a deal for but the actual product is crap.

On Nikes website you can make custom shoes. I made a pair of flat pedal ones before. Even had someone ask what they were as they liked them,

Dunno how someone can sit passively with Eastenders in the "background" - the noise of it is so offensive to my ears! Even the faces. look at em in the photo, apart from the girl with the awesome trainers, miserable.

First pair that came up on 'Nike by you' was the same Huarache as in the Eastenders pic 😱

Bored on a lads roadtrip, one of the ways of passing time was inventing imaginary top shelf titles.

Mucky Dip, and Housewife Delve are two that stick in my mind.....

Mrs Binners watches it too. The thing that amuses me is the idea of all these market stall owners and council workers live in this area of East London where the properties are all now worth about a million and a half quid

In reality they’d have been turfed out decades ago by property developers, Walford would look like the set of Nathan Barley, awash with self-facilitating media nodes, the Queen Vic would be a sushi restaurant and the caff would be an overpriced interior decor store 😂

Funk Jr made a pair of custom Vans for Mrs F’s 40th. They look absolutely mad and we all love them. Sunflowers, Flamingos, rainbows, stars and fire!

If you think a 30 + year old trainer design is offensive to the eye you'd better not look at a pair of these from Merrell

https://www.merrell.com/UK/en_GB/hydro-moc-at-neo-gore-tex-1trl/54139M.html

Saw a guy yesterday wearing these.

Hideous! I’m presuming they were being worn with white socks?

I’ve just noticed the price! 90 quid for something thats production process will have been the same as making a plastic coke bottle?! 😳

True 🙂 I wear BOTH kinds of Adidas trainers, Superstar and Stan Smith. I also have a ridiculous amount of Vans, but that's an old man thing.

One of the lads at work has 15 pairs of Nike Air thingys. They all look they've been designed during a blind Australian's fever dream.

Never got them plain boring flat soled adidas trainers from the seventies, eighties and nineties. Nike trainers always looked way better and were so much more comfortable IMO.  I wear a lot of Adidas these days though, especially from their Terrex range.

Terrace Casual uniform innit? You couldn’t go to the match on a Saturday without wearing Gazelles, Samba or Spezials on or you’d get **** kicked out of you for being weird. I’ve got a few pairs of those too

Apparently, you could get your hands on one of Stacey’s baps for £1.50 recently .

It’ll cost you a bit more than that to look at them on her OnlyFans now 😉

Thanks all - I'm going to sleep well tonight now my question has been answered and that MrsRNP is actually a chav for liking what turns out to be a pair of Nikes.

I have a feeling that No1 Son and your mate may well know each other. Son is Rob, works on Dr Who, Holby etc as electrician
