Morning all

As per the title does such a device exist?  I'm looking for one for the bathroom, so that I can walk in, burry eyed and ask Alexa to play something to get me going in the morning.

Ta in advance.

You'll need to walk in, turn the thing on physically, wait 3 minutes for it to boot up, and then ask Alexa to play something: you won't get a battery one with enough standby time to leave it on.

I used to use a UE MegaBoom (or maybe MegaBlast) but that started playing up so replaced it with a B&O Beosound A2 but I didn't read up on it properly. Works fine if you're streaming music from Amazon but although you can connect it in the B&O app to other platforms (I use Spotify) it doesn't work with the Alexa voice control so have to open up the Spotify app on my iPad and play from there (I can only change the volume via voice). I used to have a separate Amazon Music Unlimited sub which it would prob be fine with but it's not enough of a hassle yet for me to want to pay extra. The Beosound can stream radio directly via Alexa though (although somethings need additional set-up and account linking, like BBC stations)

Boot-up time for them both is only 10-15 seconds so that part isn't so much of a pain.

I'd have to time it to be certain, but that's not much different from a mains-powered Echo.  (Though of course, I don't need to do that every time before I use it.)

Cheers all

I think I've identified a better solution for my needs, even better as it comes at zero cost.

Switch on current Bluetooth speaker (auto connects to phone), tap the Alexa widget that I've put on the home screen of my phone and say "Alexa, play........"

Takes seconds and zero additional outlay.  Perfect.

Good that you have a workaround that works for you.

My answer to the original request (which I use) is a Sonos Move - sits on its wireless charger base when not in use and then just gets picked up and carried into whatever room I want it in (waterproof so OK for the bathroom too). Anything which is battery only will struggle for longevity if it needs to be listening for commands (Alexa etc.) all of the time.
