I need a new mower and I'm deep in the Makita lxt world, reusing batteries is perfect for space and not buying more stuff.
It looks like Makita have discontinued my ideal mower model, dlm460z, which is the smallest size, brushes motor, manual push.
Luckily Bosch recently released a very similar mower (gra 18v2) thoughts on using battery converters for this application? Higher power draw tool, and I'm not really concerned about the battery, more the quality of any battery adapter.
Can't see why it would be a problem. A mower is probably going to be pulling less juice than an SDS when hammering into some bricks or a track saw ripping through worktops.
Something to question is whether the batteries and adaptors will physically fit into the enclosed battery box that you'd have on a mower
Good shout on physical size. I'll be using 5Ah batteries and the Bosch mower I'm eyeing up takes their larger 12Ah procore battery as well, so I think there will be space. But that is a gamble for sure.
Hmm.... I might need to try before I buy here.
Why not just buy the dlm460z if that's what you want? I'm sure there will be one on eBay or even old stock in a shop somewhere.
Fwiw if anyone's looking at adaptors.... Bosh batteries on Makita stuff works well.
I've got the.makita strimmer and the long reach hedge cutters and use my 5ah procore. Bosch batteries on with a conversion
Bosch don't make a strimmer or hedge cutter ...but their non gardening tools are vastly superior at a price point than the equivalent Makita wasn't willing to compromise on that just to get a strimmer in the same colour.
Bosch don't make a strimmer
Are you sure? I have two but they are 36V rather than 18. The newer one even takes a blade so you can use it as a brushcutter. It's a great toy
Are they green ?
Apparently not. Seems they have released a blue strimmer now. I'll stand corrected in my orthopaedic shoes - When I bought Makita stuff they didn't make em.
I've had the Makita mower in questions for 4 years and would recommend it - metal body means it feels solid in comparison to the lightweight plastic jobs and with a sharp blade will cut it's way through tall, rough grass if needed.
