I'm sure this is a basic question and easily solved, but I've tried turning it off and on again, it never solved it so now I'm at the limit of my IT knowledge.

I have three windows 10 Devices on my desk in front of me.

I have a wifi network "Wifi" with <password> to log in.

On two of the windows 10 devices, I click on the "wifi" network name then enter the <password> when it asks for it. logs in fine and all happy.

On the third win10 device, it asks for <username> and <password> to be entered. I don't have a <username> so cannot connect to the information super highway.

What setting to I need to toggle on/off so that when I select the wifi name, I can enter the <password> only?

Many thanks

Other option is to delete/forget the network and try again.

Try sharing your phone's internet/wifi as a hot spot and connecting to the phone. If that's the same, it's something odd in the machine's settings.

Googleing says adding the network manually might help - so note down the SSID and password, then manually enter the settings.

Delete/forget existing connection first.

Go to Network and Sharing Center.
Set up a new connection or network.
Manually connect to a wireless network.
Enter SSID, security type and key of your wireless network.

Tried forgetting the network, that had same output as the start. No cigar

Tried inputting SSID and password into the "Add new network" option in Manage wifi networks page. That too doesn't work - input exactly the same settings as displayed in 192.168 router settings. Just get a "Cannot connect to network" error message.

My phone connected the the router and relaying that to the device - totally fine and work no problem. ..

Are you being asked for Windows username and password? Also, on the ones that work, are you being asked for a password everytime you turn it on?
