Can I wire this thermostat:

yes, your only using two cores like before. as long as the other end is going back to your heating control box.

Don't see why not, but are you aware you've damaged the insulation on the new cable where you've stripped the outer off?

Cheers. The plumber has routed the new cable into the hallway for me as we're moving the thermostat, it's not connected, but I saw the cable was different and groaned. Yes, I know the insulation is cut, there's metres spare to play with.

might be only a 12v stat. still has insulation on the cores anyways
