Dad and Lad (18) trip to Rome to watch the Italy vs Wales match this weekend.
I know Rome reasonably well, but any recommendations for bars and restaurants would be very welcome.
It's been a few years, but the piazza outside The Pantheon was fabulous in the evenings.
Found a few back street type places too near the Forum. We just looked for places with locals in.
When you arrive, ask some locals what they do for dinner?
I'll get my coat...
Thanks both
Posh dinner - Clorofilla Cucina & Distillati for contemporary take on Italian food. Wonderful.
Casual lunch - Trattoria da Enzo29 in Trastevere is amazing but get there for noon. The locals form an orderly queue down the street for tables it’s so good.
Cheap (but incredible) coffee - Bar Giulia on via Giulia . €1 for a delicious espresso macchiato. Again this place is used by locals so it’s cheap and great quality.
Enjoy.
Give an espresso a try and one of the pizza vendors in a wall.
Gelatos too.
I was going to suggest trattoria da Enzo 29 too, we were recommended it by a Roman expat and it's so simple yet amazing.
Enzo was reported to have long queues to get in - what is your experience?
depends where in rome you are staying but.....
