Previously you've been very pro Barbados.
We've got to book next year's holiday by the end of the week.
What's your favourite hotel and snorkel area?
Ta.

I don't think staying 4 days at the Best Western during StapleCon'09 counts much as holiday advice.

*Chuckles *

Hotel? The Colony Club would be my first pick. If not, Tamarind or Crystal Cove. I prefer the west coast.

Snorkeling? Get yourself on a catamaran with Silver Moon. Folkestone and Heron Bays are both excellent.

Which one has the best snorkelling from the beach?
The Cove is next to a hotel called the Coral Reef Club.
Sounds promising.

Barbados also has surfing

the so called "surfers point" wasn't in the best area but had a chilled out break. East coast surf looked too serious for a longboarder

Best from the beach? Colony Club. Heron Bay is heavenly.

Stay on the west coast. Lookup Reefers and Wreckers in Holetown and mention my wife's name to Michael (pm me and I'll give it to you) and Michael and co will take you to the best diving the island has to offer.

What the hell was Michael doing with/to your wife? 😯

Edit: Mum and Dad went to Tamarind Cove every year for about 10 years... looked lovely but not sure we'll ever get to go 🙁

He knows her family over there and she dives exclusively with them, they are a good bunch that react well to a recommendation.

We didn't have long there but found it very developed. Very little coastline that didn't have a hotel or house on it. Its nice enough but there are nicer islands.

Captain... we are about to book the hotel. Flights long booked.
If you were going back Tamarind or Crystal Cove?

With kids - Tamarind.
Without - Crystal Cove.
Preferably - Colony Club!

Any chance of a bottle of XO as payment? 🙂

Have fun!

We had our honeymoon at the colony club (Flashy our paths cross too much in this world!)

Been to barbados a few times now, mainly for the surfing. West coast is lovely - just to south of colony club there is now a marine reserve with lots of pretty fish....

Best snorkelling in terms of seeing stuff is carlisle bay on the south coast - jump in from the public beach and there are two big wrecks 100m off the beach. usually some big turtles hanging out there too.

We have stayed at surfers point too at Zeds place - super chilled and lovely people, but does take a bit of getting used to as the surroundings feel a little bit dodgy, but once you realise you are not going to get mugged it's lovely.

Must do:

Oistins on a friday night -

Hometown on a saturday night.

see if there is any cricket to watch in bridgetown

have a look at concorde (if you are a plane geek - I didn't)

Bathsheba for raw beauty and proper surf

Brian Talma's spot on Silver Sands (de action beach)

dammit I want to go back!
