Erm except:

"It produces MOX fuel, which recycles plutonium from nuclear weapons, but does not include any reactors."

No reactors = no meltdown = no bang.

GrahamS - I believe the bang has happened. Maybe not a nuclear bang but one big dirty bang and it could all go wrong (as my old ma says)

Does anyone know what became of cressers ?

Yep, one person killed. Tragic but not exactly Hiroshima.

IIRC banned for here for regular doom mongering, or just upsetting the MOD's, could have come back if he apologised. He wouldn't, I read he went off to Bike Radar(?) and started a regular doom mongering post, then disappeared or was banned

ah, don't get me wrong - I'm not a shroud-waving "nein danke" type person, more joining in with the general spirit of the OP from TinaS (any relation ?)

I once gave a talk inspired totally by cressers' stw antics - contained the word "doomed" about 20 times in 45 minutes

Tragic but not exactly Hiroshima.

Hmm. You could apply that same logic to 9/11.

Update:

""There is no chemical or nuclear risk as we speak," a French government spokeswoman told The Wall Street Journal. "It's an industrial accident, not a nuclear accident."

The explosion took place in an oven used to incinerate items with low levels of radiation, such as workers' uniforms and gloves, oils and solvents, and metal waste. A member of the French Institute for Radioprotection and Nuclear Safety told the WSJ that because of the low level of radioactivity in the waste products and the fact that damage to the building as a whole was slight, the amount of radiation released should be "very, very low."

So there you go, doom level: "very, very low".

Can you be slightly doomed, though? Surely doom's a binary setting?

Bang, back to burning coal for th next 50 years then....

According to the Doom Mongers of the late 1890s (or thereabout), coal was due to run out around 1912.

So therefore it is not possible because coal does not exist anymore.

After all, Doom Mongers are never wrong*.

*I wonder what became of Glol W*g .......

The climate was right for a change.

Nuclear power still seems safer than car culture. Less deaths, less associated environmental and human health problems...

Whatevah. We all glowed in the dark last night down 'ere. 8) That brightly, honest, guv.

Not really, but judging by the hysteria of some people in these parts, you'd have thought so.

errr slightly off the whole topic and back to the DOOOOMMM part, I've received a mail from Cressers, saying "the Doomster lives, you may want to get your fix of Doom" by finding him on the Bike Radar Cake Stop (or his email if you want it). He also say he's been gone 5 years, which I find hard to believe it's been so long...time flies when you having fun?
😀
