I'll start with ABBA.
I hated them at the time (I was an uppity wee punk rocker) but time hasn't seen me mellow on that one
Meatloaf
Jesus - I HATE Abba!
Morrisey, Smiths, Proclaimers and so so much more!
Any reality show winner
Any reality show winner
goes without saying, really 🙂
any advance on that?
oasis thought they were * then and funnily enough my view of them has gone downhill since then (bunch of arrogant *'s
Elton John
In agreement with the other thread: Prince
He's just an over-sexed dwarf. Why he's feted as some kind of genius is beyond me
oasis
radiohead
coldplay
muse
not quite ABBA as I remember liking my parents playing them in the car when I was ~10
The Beatles
Blur
Any of that middle/upper class modern'ish-faux-indie stuff like The Kooks. Fk me I detest crap like that.
99% of the stuff they play on Radio 2. Can I include Radio 2 itself? I'd love to kill Radio 2 with fire til its dead.
Radiohead +1
Any Thrash metal band
+1 Coldplay & Muse
My in-laws were bought tickets for a Muse gig in Sheffield and came back saying it was amazing and that they'd buy all the kids tickets to go and see them again. I left them in no doubt that I wasn't being ungrateful but I will not be wasting precious moments of my life going and see Muse live.
Any of that middle/upper class modern'ish-faux-indie stuff like The Kooks.
Amen brother!
Bombay *ing Bicycle Club
Scouting for *ing Girls
Any of that crap!
The Smiths - I was right about Morrissey ,even his fan club can see, he is a **** of the highest order.
Metallica - whole career based on one idea stolen from Diamond Head.
Oasis. I've heard better sixth formers.
Adele - learn to breath in between the notes, there's a love.
The Killers - American Duran Duran tribute act with added Mormon.
I dislike all music, yes they are all noise, except ABBA and Carpenter but I cannot listen to them because of past memories. 😯
whole career based on one idea stolen from Diamond Head.
or on songs the original guitarist wrote 😉
Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Ah, Adele. My mum like her music. And my mum doesn't even listen to music. I think thats the sort of demographic she appeals to. People with no taste.
coldplay. banal radio music for shoe gazers and bed wetters. absolute drivel. wish they'd take a bath with an electric fire.
The Killers
Placebo
Franz Ferdinand
Beatles
Stones
Led Zeppelin
Bowie
Iggy Pop
Beach Boys
Velvet Underground
Elvis
Queen
Hendrix
All deeply overrated and could do better IMO
Pink Floyd. Makes me cringe.
I don't get The Beatles, but I wouldn't say I can't stand them
HendrixAll deeply overrated and could do better IMO
brooess - have a word with yourself sweetie.
The Killers - American Duran Duran tribute act with added [s]Mormon[/s]Shed Seven.
FTFY
U2
brooess - have a word with yourself sweetie.
Maybe I should have included a ;-)?
😀
Radiohead
Artic Monkeys
Oasis
The Beatles - (just the Take That of their day)
anything From X Factor
Pink Floyd
Bon Jovi
ColdPlay
ABBA - I'm mean WT actual F is it with people worshiping ABBA it's just inane and repetitive and the ABBA Parties?
Limp biscuit
Blink 182
and any other of those God awful 'nu-metal' soulless repetitive bands of that ilk.
pretty much the ones mentioned so far especially ABBA ,and coldplay and all that other bedsiiter music that smells vaguely of cabbage , snow patrol et al , Keane
,can't effing stand the carpenters ,oh and Elvis .I could go on .All those artist like Dmaio Allbran who find their carreers at a lull so discover Mali .
the smiths.
any 'music' ever played on R2 - an ocean of bland, inoffensive, middle-of-the-road, white bread rubbish.
Don't agree with the Rolling Stones SBTH. And are the Artic Monkeys the Sheffield bands lorry driving tribute band? 😉
Coldplay. I genuinely cannot figure out how they are as massive as they are. There are plenty of bands that don't appeal to me but I can understand how they got big (Bon Jovi for example), but Coldplay I really, really don't understand how they are any bigger than, say, Starsailor.
Starsailor.
Bon Jovi.
Florence Welsh
Puff Daddy / P Diddy / Diddy / whatever he's called this week. Worst. Rapper. Ever.
Not my cup of tea, but in their defence, ABBA nailed pop music at its purest in ways few can manage. I have no problem with there being ABBA, I just don't choose to listen to it.

You'd have loved the Coldplay gig at Wembley I went to.
And the Bon Jovi one at the Etihad in Manchester, where Starsailor were the support 🙂
+1 for U2.
And that's before his ego entered the planetary system.
Duffy. Makes me want to smash up the radio. Dreadful.
The Clash
P Diddy - you just know he would never had made it out of the Glasgow Rap scene with that name! Just as well for him.
Coldplay - the musical equivalent of watching paint dry...
Phil Collins - just dull
coldplay
radiohead
as above, I dont hate the beatles, just dont 'get' them.
-1 for radiohead and the smiths :o)
but +100 for Oasis.
Saw them at Whitley Bay Ice Rink and they were sh*t. That was when they were supposed to be good as well!
Prince is interesting as sometimes his stuff is really good (sign o the times, dirty mind) but most of it is utter rubbish.
He was sh*t live too.
@rob2
+1 saw him years ago at Wembley Arena though I was a fan I thought it was just pure self indulugence, musical masturbation.
Oasis, Manics, Happy Mondays. Actually, pretty much every band that was part of the whole 'baggy', 'Madchester' scene I thought were crap, and nothing has happened over the years to change that opinion.
The Manics whole shouty, student-union level Agitprop thing practically brings me out in hives. There are plenty of bands I'm not keen on, but I detest the Manics.
Metallica/Diamond Head/Judas Priest/Slayer/Anthrax etc - whole career based on one idea stolen from [s]Diamond Head[/s] Black Sabbath.
FTFY
Metallica/Diamond Head/Judas Priest/Slayer/Anthrax etc - whole career based on one idea stolen from Diamond Head Black Sabbath.
To be fair, Metallica and Slayer (in particular) play a little bit faster than Sabbath 😀
Millions of em! Pink Floyd is the first that comes to mind
Take That. When they first started they were utterly terrible and everyone with any self respect thought they were cheesy shite; now there are loads of people coming out of the woodwork saying 'liked them all along really' or 'they're good now'
No. You didn't admit it because they were awful, they are still cheese and you should be ashamed
The Smiths, Morrisey, Oasis, Blur, anything from the Madchester Scene, (except The Seahorses), Coldplay, Article Monkeys, Kasabian, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, indie shoe gazey bollocks, Kings of Leon.
I could on, but my blood pressure is rising. Grrrrrrrrr.
too many to note down, but the ones I'm thinking just now are belle and sebastian, Iron Maiden, Johnson ACDC, Queen,
Cream.
Oh sod off the lot of you.. Critical barstards. There's songs from almost all of the aforementioned that stand up fairly well... Shed seven excluded. It's all just music really catering for differing tastes,
I personally like belle and Sebastian and the wife hates it with a passion... She likes tom jones?
Petshopboys
Coldplay
Beatles
Metallica and scouting for idiots are two of the worst bands ever but the winner by far has to be nickelback
Brooess+1
Apart from replacing Iggy with Radiohead that list is spot on.
Oasis - utter tosh... can't stand them.
Robby Williams winds me up as well.
The rest I can take it or leave it.
I couldn't say categorically that any proper band, singer or musician is cr@p. I think that anyone has a chance of making some great music and even the truly brilliant ones produce no more than a handful of truly great tracks. The rest are there to fill albums because that's how we listened to music.
There's a lot of "how cool am I?" on this thread.
This has to be the worst -

Judging by that list, its a how clueless am I! Surely no-one can seriously think some of the most innovative artists of the past 40 years "could do better"?
duh

The Smiths, Morrisey, Oasis, Blur, anything from the Madchester Scene, (except The Seahorses), Coldplay, Article Monkeys, Kasabian, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, indie shoe gazey bollocks, Kings of Leon.
Is there anything at all that you do like?
Oasis leave me cold, they do nothing new or innovative, same with Kasabian, and the Madchester thing, like the Mondays, as well, but I can nearly always find something that someone has done that I like.
Except for the Manics.
Great tunes, but that shouty bloke caterwauling over the top makes me homicidal.
There's never a gun handy when they have a gig near at hand...
And again I have to agree with DezB re his last post; I look at that list, and the comment at the bottom, and a tiny part of me dies inside.
Actually I've thought of a group that fits the criteria, some people like them and John Peel was a massive fan but I just think they're a band that just needs to man up and sack the singer.*
* It's ironic.
