[Closed] Ball Lump - Bit Worried...

Is it in the actual ball or a sort of attached lump on the end?

Easy for me to say, but until you have your scan you don't know anything. Hope all goes well.

Been there myself, turns out it was a epididymal cyst and nothing to fret over.

I remember being given the ultrasound by a young Kiwi female radiologist and being so scared of what might be revealed that all 'other' fears about what might happen at the examination never even crossed my mind.

It's time for you to let the experts take you in hand and provide a satisfactory conclusion to your hairy fun-plum concerns.

I had to have some blood-tests recently* and was very concerned up until the blood was taken and then i resolved myself to knowing an answer was coming soon and the anxiety dropped.

*All clear in the end

Don't worry, you're doing the right things, chances it will be absolutely fine.

I had to get mine checked out when one swelled up to about 2x its normal volume.

I had to get mine checked quite a few years ago, wife was a medical student at the time and 4 of her med students mates were in the clinic shadowing so they all had a rummage as well.

the most disconcerting bit was the initial GP examination. As he rolled my fun plums between his fingers he told me not to be embarassed and that it was quite common to get an erection during the procedure.

When i said i didn't have one, he replied 'Not you; me.'

By the time I got the ultrasound test it had gone - most likely a bruise they said.

If it helps I had to have a camera shoved down my old chap and the "receptionists" who also double up as nurses had to assist (I like to think it was a two handed job)....thank Christ on that occassion I didn't need to re-arrange another appointment.

I had this after I crushed a testicle taking a fall in a makeshift climbing harness made from two tape loops. I eventually found myself lying on my back naked from the waist down, wishing I had given the garden a trim, when the door opened and half a dozen female medical students walked in. The sonographer examined one side then, trying to get my knob to relocate, flicked it with the scanner head like somebody trying to flip over a beached whale (well, sardine actually) but each time it bounced back to its natural resting place. Eventually I just muttered something and grabbed it and held it aside for him. The scan revealed nothing to worry about and the pain has faded over 25 years.

Good call on getting it checked out - it may well be nothing, but an ultrasound will be the best way to find out.

I had one a few years ago, turned out to be a cyst (apparently they're quite common and as a general trend cysts can cause pain whereas cancer usually initially doesn't).

The weird experience for me was the ultrasound guy pointing at bits on the scan screen and saying "here - here is your ball. Your ball is fine."

There are loads of unpleasant things it could be that aren't cancer, so just relax.

As with earlier poster, been there and it was just an epidydywotsit cyst. They did offer to lop that whole ball off so things would be more ahem.. balanced, but I refused their kind offer as it doesn't cause me any issues.

Re ultrasound I wouldn't worry about .. reactions, I found the experience sufficiently sobering that there was no chance of anything stirring

Good on you for getting it checked, had a similar experience, docs, referred to specialist for a scan, turned out to be a collection of veins and nothing to worry about (it had a special name which I forget now). Second time just went to docs, and after examination said yeah quite common "achy ball syndrome" (one testicle bigger and sensitive to touch) just treated with medication.

You've done the worst bit by getting checked, good luck.

The scan couldn't be more embarrassing/weird than the doctors visit.

It was the first time I've been to the local surgery and I saw a young female doctor. I'm not sure if it would be less awkward with a male doctor or not, I just know it was very awkward and I wished it over as quickly as possible!

Nothing much to add to the above, but went through the same thing a couple of years ago. Really quite bad pain resulted in me trying to get an appointment at the doctors and getting nowhere with receptionists who weren't interested in why I wanted to see the doctor, but no they couldn't fit me in. Rang NHS Direct who told me to ring back and insist on speaking to a duty doctor who got straight in. Then had to wait about 4 weeks for the ultrasound scan during which I did nothing but worry. The woman who did the scan told me straight away that it was a cyst and nothing to worry about. She did tell me more but by that point I wasn't listening, was just enjoying the feeling of all the fear draining away.

So, fingers crossed it's nothing to worry about.

It probably help if it's fallen into disuse eh?

Hello. Plus 1 for everyone who says get it checked out. Hopefully it will turn out to be nothing (too) untoward but even if it is something sinister, far better that you find out ASAP so that it can be sorted
Whilst I hope this isn't going to be the case for you, my lump and discomfort turned out to be the big bad C so I'm damn glad I went to the docs and ultimately got it seen to. PM me if I can help at all

Just be thankful they don't investigate your balls with the same technique they use for a mammogram.

More reassurance here....I found a chocolate chip sized and shaped lump on the front of one of mine. Was a young teenager at the time and the thought of an exam couldn't be worse. I stuck my head in the sand for the best part of 20 years. Nothing much changed. After my first kid was born I started taking things more seriously. Inspired by the various losses of dignity I saw my wife go through, I went and got it sorted. 1 Male GP appt and 1 fit female sonographer with matronly receptionist chaperone later and I got the all clear. No big deal at all. You're doing the right thing and are much braver than I was back then.

Its probably nutting to worry about and you'll be scrotally fine.

Greno. You are totally doing the right thing. Well done for having the balls 😛 to go get it checked quick. Can understand your anxiety while you wait. I've had to wait on test results, and a scan or two in the past. For me to stay busy was the key - makes the time go by quicker.

Last time I was in hospital, it was to have my meat 'n' two veg photographed by the medical photographer. Bit weird, to say the least, but I don't even think about my dignity any more as it's all gone 😆

A guy I share my office has just been through what sounds like the same thing - he worried himself sick about it - turned out to be some sort of cyst - 'fairly' common from what I can gather

I just need a scan in a few weeks as general check, but doc was happy the lump is just cyst that's probably been there all my life (I didn't know because I don't check em!).

Morral is, check your junk for changes more often!
