Some of the old hippies that I saw over there were about that age.

Unfortunately that defence doesn’t hold sway when in court for mushrooms.
1. The total number of offences recorded in which the Class A controlled drug psilocybin, also known as
‘magic mushrooms’, was named;
2. The number of offences recorded in which psilocybin or Class A mushrooms was the only controlled
drug named;
3. The breakdown of how many of the recorded offences resulted in:
a. A caution or reprimand but not arrest;
b. Arrest, where the case was not passed to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS);
c. Arrest, where the case was passed to the CPS.
I would be grateful if annual data was provided to cover the years 2015 - 2020.
Unfortunately, West Yorkshire Police are unable to provide you with the information requested.
Aside from specific class A drug offences there are 636 crimes in which the drug may have been a factor
(the text MUSHROOM, PSILOCYBIN or PSYCH is in the MO / crime notes). Each record would require
a manual search to determine this. At 5 minutes per record this would take 53 hours to complete.
It is estimated that the cost of providing / locating the information you seek within your request would
exceed the time threshold. Where a reasonable estimate has been made that the appropriate limit would
be exceeded, there is no requirement for a public authority to undertake the work up to the limit.
Please see Appendix A for the full legislative explanation as to why West Yorkshire Police are unable to
provide the information.
West Yorkshire Police will assist you in negotiating the possibility of the provision of some of the
information requested. Please see the Advice and Assistance under Section 16 of Appendix A.
