Bit of a lump in my throat this morning. They are growing up so fast! Daughters starting year 2 and year 1, new class rooms and teachers, youngest now entering school through a different gate with the big kids....sniff!

Made it on time though, and without a big rush. That won't last.

Steel yourself, the acceleration of time is only just starting.

Childhood passes in a blur for parents.

Yup - it only seems five minutes since our girls were 'ickle things in yr 1 – they start yr 9 tomorrow and have to start thinking about their choices for GCSEs this term.

That's what scares me! The list couple of years have flown by even though with lockdowns they've been really hard at times. I'm grateful for the extra time with them WFH/hybrid working gives. Still got a 2 year old at home but when he starts nursery next year I'll be in bits!

In my mind I’ve still got two toddlers, but one of them tells me she’s a doctor now - can’t be true, I only looked away for a second.

It was the start of the older one's last year of Primary school today, go that creeping feeling that big changes are coming.

They both bounded in happy as Larry, I pray that lasts as long as possible.

Fazzini-jnr-snr left college education last year to take up an apprenticeship (it was awful for many reasons - such a shame) and now works full-time nights on the roads with his pal. Loves it. Earns a comparative fortune for 18 years old and good on him.
Fazzini-jnr-jnr goes back to school this week on Thursday and is starting his GCSEs. Holy cow.

I must confess to struggling more than just a bit with the passage of time.

a year between both of mine and it feels like it was only a couple of years ago I took a picture of them both on the 1st day (youngest 1st day oldest the year above). This morning I was totally the other end of the journey, oldest starting a-levels (in a suit ffs) and youngest final GSCE year.

time flies

Happened weeks ago for us north of the Wall. Thank **** for that. I love my kids and doing stuff with them, but they needed that time back at school!

Y6 for the boy this morning. Yes, it does feel like only yesterday he started reception. At least getting him ready today was one of the easiest school mornings I have ever had to deal with! Thought it was going to be a fight but no, no fussing or faffing at all...

We have just found out that sixth formers don’t get bus passes on the bus which is already fully paid for by the County Council so that is another £20/week we haven’t budgeted for.

Yes I have investigated sixth form bursaries but as a family we have an income a couple of thousand over the ‘discretionary’ limit (Not much).  We could pay £400 for a bus pass in a lump sum (no option for monthly payment) which would save £300 but if I had £400 lying around the bus fair wouldn’t be a problem.

Childhood passes in a blur for parents.

It's amazing how quickly school life becomes a distant memory too.

My daughter left in Jan 21 and it seems a lifetime ago now. The friendship groups that were so important to them at the time crumble rapidly after leaving.
