29th September 2012 was not a good day for me

Today, after the 5th operation and being in a cast since January I am 'normal' again

20180529_095258 by WCA!, on Flickr

And just a few Ti bolts holding it all together

WTF is that yellow thing on the carpet?

Kazoo?

Sex toy?

Those slabs could be doing with repointing as well. 😉

Yellow thing is a childs whistle I was blowing to celebrate my freedom.

It still feels a bit weird to walk without the boot or sticks but a bloody good weird

I think we should have a whip round and pay someone to do it for WCA.

I mean how much harm could the average person come to, just mixing up some mortar and repointing a patio.........

You should have just asked then to bolt on an SPD attachment whilst they were adding metalwork....

IIRC, the ladder at a jaunty angle in the top pic isn't just there for perspective.

Wrecked my elbow at the weekend, looking at that picture of your original injury has brought me out in a cold sweat! Glad the wonderous NHS has completed works on your new limb, try to look after it!

I'm impressed, I saw your top photo and thought, they'd never get your ankle back into a normal shape again. Well done to your Doc's and to you for going though the pain involved.

Indeed, i did mine on the 29th of December and I’m only going back to work on Monday.

i’ve gotta be honest, mine didn’t look as bad as yours, but the pain was tremendous.

I’ve never managed to get pictures to work, but the link above should take you to my pictures.

it’s surprisingly difficult to manage without two legs eh.

Fantastic news even if the x-ray looks like failed Ikea cupboard assembly. My own Meccano ankle is more like minor scrape compared to yours.

Nick, it is amazing what the body can go through mate. take it easy.

i have just spent a week in Porto. never been anywhere as hilly. walked 45 miles over the week, up hill and down dale, on cobbles and up and down steps.

not a bit of trouble from the hip or ankle.

keep on keeping on.

At last Nick you can carry that drinks tray without spillage 😉 Great to see your properly fixed up.

Ton it is quite hilly isn't it, I worked in Porto for 7 months and got to know so many great little places tucked down the most unpromising looking side streets, but the hills were less of a shock as I was living in Bristol at the time which has 1 or 7 bloody steep hills!!

Glad to hear you are good again Ton. I am planning on gradual recovery rather that straight back to full speed. I will be wearing the boot part of the day and keeping one stick handy for a while but I managed to    walk most of the way round the supermarket yesterday and plan a little riding today if it is too wet before the Dual Race
