I'm sure that this has been covered before but I have a question about subscriptions.

I have had BCN on my phone for years, i paid a one-off fee when I first installed it. I have now tried to install on my new Kindle Fire so that I can use it off-line. It looks like I can only install PRO or EX versions and have to pay either a subscription or another fee.

I can't remember my login details but there doesn't appear to be anywhere to enter this anyway. I am reluctant to contact BCN direct just now in case it compromises my present situation, so I'm just asking here for anyone else's experience.

TIA

No idea as it's just happened to me as well, I've just put it on my new phone after a few months of ownership.

Normally google redownloads the paid for or free version of my apps not for BCN though. I paid a one off amount years ago the last time I emailed them about an issue they wanted the last bit of the card no I'd used donkeys ago it was probably a different bank nevermind the card no.

FWIW: I'm a long time BCN user and I also paid a one-off fee many years ago. I've installed the app on three or four phones but I've always installed on the new phone via Google Play and never had problems with the license.

Granted, I don't actually know what I bought many years ago! And I've no idea which maps should/should not work with my license

Same as above, I bought it in 2012 and have loaded it on subsequent new phones from my play store on the original gmail account I bought the app on. However I think the last time I bought a new phone might well be 12 months ago or more.

Interesting. I also bought it years ago. I've not used it for a while but just had a look and I only have the "demo" version. On play store it wants 12.99 for the full version, no record of me buying anything . Similar to above, I'm not 100% sure what I actually bought so it's a bit hard to complain. After the heartache of losing viewranger this is another blow

Mine is still fully working on a couple of phones, One phone has hardly ever been turned on for over 12 months and I,ve just switched it on and the app is still there and working. i haven't uninstalled it and then tried to reinstall it at any time tho.

Is the problem that a kindle fire doesn’t natively access the play store?

Seems plausible....

You sure you are using the same Google account?

Still not clear whats going on. Thanks for everyones input.

I have Google Play Store installed on my Kindle Fire, and this is where I installed it from. I'm guessing the install on my phone was done using my Googlemail account but I haven't been asked for this information by this install yet, not that I can remember it. OS maps are available from Bing. At the moment I don't have any tracks available to view but I will try to import some of my old tracks or perhaps copy over from my PC. I don't propose to use this for actually recording tracks just viewing online. I guess this may be a trial install and I will be asked for purchasing information at some point.

As a last resort, if it isn't working, I may just have to contact BCN support.

Just been searching for info on this on the CritterMap website and found this advice:

How to Get Application without Paying / Re-Purchasing again.

A: Just log on to Google Play using the email address you used to initially buy the application before.

Play will automatically sync your purchase history and should not charge you again.

        Official Play Documentation: http://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/answer.py?hl=en-AU&answer=113410

Checked on Google Play and it appears to have logged me in to my account automatically so my install from there doesn't require payment.

Waiting to see what happens.
