As per title, 14 year old son is 6'3" and growing, so we're looking for a 1 (or 2) man tent that will fit him and his size 14 boots, but is still packable and light enough to strap to a bike or carry on his back.
Long tents, what you got?
Trekkertent drift i am.sitting in right now has an inner 8 feet by 4 feet. Its low at the ends tho. Mine is a drift 2 custom with an extended outer and with cf poles is 1.5 kilo. Its huge.
I'm 6'2" and use a vango helium 2 man. Light but not cheap.
The Lanshan 1 Plus is 230 long inside (7'6"). Looking on their website, they don't specifically list it anymore, so I wonder if they've just ditched the original (smaller) Lanshan 1 and now only offer the larger version.
I fit in my OEX Phoxx 1 tent and I'm 6'5". It's not roomy but it's light and packs small
6’ 3’’ here and I fit well in a Snugpak Ionosphere with plenty of room leftover for bags/boots etc.
I’m 6’2″ and use a vango helium 2 man. Light but not cheap.
I've the Helium 1 and am 6'2".
Packs small plus I've mine set up fully assembled (outer, inner and footprint) so it goes up in a 'oner'.
Thanks all, lots of options for me and the boy to look at there.
We'll have to check prices to decide whether 2nd hand is an option; at his age there's always the possibility that he'll enjoy it thrice and them move on to something else!
6'4" here.
Wild Country Hoolie 2.
Absolutely perfect.
I’m similar height with size 13 feet and get on well in vaude power lizard. The 230cm inner is usefully longer that other similar tents I’ve seen.
Phoxx 1 £49 on sale. At that price he can try bikepacking and upgrade a year or two down the line if he likes it.

Alpkit soloist comes in a longer x-large size. Currently on end of season sale too.

I have the same problem (6'4"), annoying almost all tents stop at 215cm, which is a bit of a squeeze. I've been eyeing up the DD superlight pathfinder tent https://www.ddhammocks.com/products/tents,
It packs down small and can be pitched (and bought!) without the inner for the ultralightniks out there. Needs a trekking pole tho, so better for back packing, but finding and carrying a pole for bike packing is not hard
The inner is 225cm long, the outer 290cm!
6ft3 here.
Currently using a nanok domus solo tent as the end where my feet are has mini poles to give some height. It's ok, a bit on the heavy side at 1.5kg but it's a 4 season tent and I fit in it!
Gear fine are selling Lanshan. Also amazon and eBay etc.
The Pro version is single skin and 20d throughout

Lanshan One is flysheet and mesh inner, 20d floor, 15d outer so not as durable apparently but how much will he use it and tents are easily repaired should you rip it.

Problem I've found with tents is although they are long enough on a spec sheet, 220cm long etc in reality it's not as the edges aren't high enough and your feet touch the outer tent and get wet and cold.
Alpkits new polestar £170 is 250x200 but it's 1200g plus an alpkit pole 100g (£25). Should be big enough and if he grows he can sleep diagonally 🤣

6'2" son fits in both my Robens Arch or his brothers Vango Scafell.
With a tunnel you can push head against door firmly and not get wet.
He *just* fits my Alpkit Delta too, and I at 6' find it roomy due to the vertical ends.
IME, many light tents save weight by saving on cm of fabric.

Poles at head/feet are at high angle, suiting tall people. I've used one of these for long periods in bad weather. This original design is IMO better than the dual entry model he also makes (I've had both).
I’m 6’4” and have a big agnes copper spur 1, which works well and is more roomy than other shelters I have tried.
Nordisk Telemark UL2 - 235cm length - roomy for one, can fit two in.
Thanks for the tip off about the Go Outdoors Oex tents. Been thinking about a larger tent for a while as I don't bikepack there's no point in squashing myself into a 1 man-er.
Jackal 3 purchase before 7am on pay day! 👍 If it's any good, the local Scout group will get a donation of a nice lightweight Decathlon hike tent.

Tents are like sleeping bags, clothes, shoes and bikes etc etc
For us bigger/taller folk, they weigh more - live with it or be cramped.
Oh, and make sure you look at XL sleeping bags too.

Something else I've always struggled with as a tall bloke with massive feet!
What bags are you all using. I'd like one with low temp ratings for winter and ideally rectangular for foot and shoulder room.
I find mummy bags so tight I just don't sleep
