Went to see Babylon last night - 3 hours of utter madness.
It seems to really split the reviewers..... Guardian: 2 stars, Times: 4 stars, Independent: 5 stars.
Something of an assault on the senses for the first 30 minutes but I though Margot Robbie was excellent.
Anyone else been?
Does anyone really go by the reviews these days, you either get the 'early' VIP reviewers, who do nothing but praise it, as they've been given early access and don't want to rock the boat, or you get those who review it against their own criteria, hence why such divided opinion, you just have to look at rotten tomatoes to see this film has that in buckets.
Realistically i just go by youtube reviews from certain folk who i tend to like the same stuff as they do to work out if it's worth the gamble or not.

Yep, I read a couple of film mags and I think the reviews have an influence on what I go to see. A lot of the time it's wrong (like Top Gun Maverick being highly rated, yet highly shite) but it's a useful guide.
Yeah, The Babylon reviews have mostly been pretty average, so I've not bothered with it.
I am going to see it ,mostly out of curiosity and to support my local cinema.
We all like different things,so I don't get too hung up on reviews.
As an example, look how well RRR has done and it's (IMO) utter bobbins, but if you like Bollywood OTT,or even films that are so bad that they end up good to laugh through, that's fine.
Reviews don't just say "This is good 10/10" or "This is shit 1/10" .. there's a lot more to them than that, in case you were wondering, like.
Warranties don't just say "life time" either, there's a lot more to them than that, but you know, 11 pages and counting...
[almost] No one reads past the 1/10

Yes, it seems that people do go by reviews these days.
I just go by the fact if Peter Bradshaw loves it then it’s probably rubbish. Works about 75% of the time
