It lacks the full “we’re coming to kick your head in” vibe that you only get with a full pipe band.

Here are some schoolchildren, some from my kids school, doing a much better job of it in Grand Central Station a few weeks ago....

I am rather disappointed.

I thought this would be a thread highlighting the musical heights of The Proclaimers critically acclaimed back catalogue!

And bagpipes too obvs.

clanidonia - seriously ? are you taking the piss out of the SNP announcement yesterday or something ?

Plenty of good scottish music out there - but clanidonia is not it.

I wasn’t there but the people who were tell me it was awesome. The New Yorkers love a pipe band too , doubly so when they’re all kids

The band were there for the Tartan Day parade.

I heard them at full pelt in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall the week before when I was there to see my own kids in the other NL Schools bands.

I love that our schools encourage such musical talent

Martyn Bennetts a great call

shooglenifty and depending which album peatbog faeries

saltfishfourty

And of course (but again dependant on which album) Skippinish/Tidelines but that might be verging on a bit shortbread and tartan for some..... Probably shouldnt look up Old blind dogs in such case.

I only logged in to post that.

Right then...

Blimey that actually sounded okay. The first three seconds that I listened to anyway...

How about this? Includes the best guitar duet (as opposed to solo) in indie...

I did walk past King Tut's this morning but despite moving around in Scotland for a week, sadly I've heard no Scots music. I feel deprived.

Ha Johnny will love that.

I assumed by geex suggestion that anything scottish folk was tartan to him.

For the record Minstrel Boy is Irish but awesome though the Joe Strummer (Black Hawk Down) version is the best.

For Scottish bands Big Country were amazing but for a fairly mainstream song Its hard to beat Freightened rabbit

If Its 90's house your after Id go with pretty much anything from Billy Kiltys 23rd precinct label , Sublime being my favourite.

The best one from the Corries.

Or for something a bit more modern Niteworks are good. Kind of inspired by Martyn Bennett etc.

Actually, that sounds pretty terrible now. But Scottish anyway.
Bit like those other shite bands that got away with it back then - Hue & Cry, Deacon Bleugh and Del Amitri. With their fake soulful vocals. Grim.
