Yeh yeh I know it varies massively from day to day, week to week or even what part in the UK but I am just trying to find a rough average night time temperature for the different months of the year in the North of England.

Would 7-10 degrees May to Sept seem about right? Anyone know any good links where I can see historic data?

Attempting to make my own quilt and trying to decide on the weight of the insulation. Aim was for it to be a top quilt to a summer sleeping bag in colder months and a solo quilt in summer months.

Then click the Averages tab, click on the month you want, then select mean daily minimum from the drop down menu.

North of England looks like around 8C at night for June. Varies according to height etc of course. Many parts of the north of England get air frost in May.

The mean 8c figure for June will obviously include temps a few degrees lower. I'd say a summer bag/quilt for the UK should be good to at least +5C.

Select "Averages Map" from the Tabs at the top

Then Select the month, and then select "Mean Daily Minimum temperature" from the options here.

Cheers for that. Two temp ratings I can have is 4ish or 7ish. Synthetic so they are my choices.

But 7ish I reckon with clothes and a down jacket and a bivi bag should be fine for most spring summer fair weather bikepacking

It's not the average temperatures that are a problem - it's the lows.
