I asked this ages ago but can't seem to find the thread.

What are the average monthly outgoings for 2 people living in a 2 bed house? Google throws up a whole heap of answers so I'd like to hear from you 'real world' people.

I'm guessing there's:

Gas
Electric
Water
Telephone
Broadband (can't live without it!)
TV License
Home Insurance
Council Tax
Food

Anything else? Am I being hopelessly optimistic guessing this won't top £500 a month?

Thanks!

Depends how much you and your partner eat 😛

I would of thought £300 + food brings it to your budget.

She's used to M&S, but we might have to start shopping at Aldi!

Don't tell me M&S got her too with the low salt and sugar (apparently) campaign with their food. 😆

Insurance: £12
Council tax: £100
Electricity: £50
Water: £50
TV license: £13
Phone: £20
Sky (inc broadband): £75
Food: £350

Total: £670 pcm

Mine is a 1 bed flat though, two of us.

Actually, while we're on the subject, be lovelly if any money experts can save me money on any of these, with my £550 rent I'm spending over £1200 on bills before I buy any clothes, nights out or bikes 'n' bits!!!!!!!

We know how much we have each month, and need to work out how much we can afford to pay for a mortgage once all outgoings are taken care of.

The misses insists on shopping in M&S, and we don't drive so we do a lot of smaller shops, that we can carry and it mounts up crazy! I'm including my work lunches in that too, which can be about £30/40 a week.

Sky is a joke, that £75 quid is for Sky HD, every channel package (not including porn or ESPN) and their 10Mb broadband service. Contemplating canceling to be honest, do need to cut down on these bills a bit!

Erm... £350 pcm for food seems very low to me. More like £500 in our gaff.
And before you ask, no we aren't porkers either.

Are you eating nothing but Ready Meals washed down with a fair bit of booze?

The opposite really. Decent quality food to make nice meals with.
