Any recommendations for a good family holiday - somewhere vaguely European (not more than 4 hours or so flying) and 6 yo friendly.

Budget not really an issue - just a decent hotel with lots to do for a very active 6 yo boy who loves swimming pools and a decent beach and with a decent chance of good weather.

Thanks all

Cyprus is a good shout - any resort in particular.  Mrs Danny won't go to Turkey.  She went once and didn't enjoy the resort so she won't go back.  She's funny like that - went to Portugal in June and the weather was rubbish so she's never go back!  Once a country has upset her that's it...

We went to northern Cyprus and rented a house with pool. Cheaper than southern Cyprus, but it’s not a all inclusive type of holiday type of place

I believe the south is much more that type of thing.

When we went in the 2nd week of October it was stil high 20’s. Apparently temps drop off quite a bit mid/late October, but still warm

Thanks FD - Seen some nice looking hotels in the South.  Yeah - this will very much be an all inc package type holiday.  After yet another year lurching from one disaster to another we just want to chill for a week.  I'd be well up for the North and to get out and about a bit but Mrs Danny has other ideas 🙂

Another vote for the Canary Islands. We've got into the habit of going every October/November.

Any one of them is good but Fuertoventura is the best. We stay in Caleta de Fuste. Nice and quiet, no nobheads. Temperature is perfect - mid 20's with a nice breeze off the sea. Great hotels with pools to keep a 6 year old occupied. And go and see Geoff at Caletta cycles, hire a fat bike and go dossing about. It's like riding on the surface of the moon. Love the place! Back out there in November. 😀

Any of the Southern Greek Islands, Cyprus or the canaries.

I go to Rhodes every September and it's still red hot. Went in October once and we had 1 day out of 14 that was slightly cloudy. Pleasant 25-30 Celsius and no less than 20 at night.

3 hours 45 minutes on the plane.
