We have been happily with AutoAid for a few years. We have never needed to call them to my wifes SWB Vivaro crew cab which they had agreed was covered, the renewal is up and I just checked that they would still cover the vivaro which they will but they now informed me that it is only covered for purely personal use, it is a carpet cleaning van and is sign written so I think this rules out Autoaid. Has anybody else used Autoaid for a commercial vehicle and encountered any problems. What are my alternatives?

I'm with QDOS and cover my van (a 7m long Sprinter), my car and GF's car on one policy and all are used on a mixture of business and personal

Sadly QDOS does not work as the VAN is a 54 plate and our other car is a 52 plate and they are too old for them to cover. Any other suggestions.

I'm not certain but I think our Nationwide Flex Plus bank account gives me cover for any vehicle I happen to be in, anywhere. A few other benefits like travel insurance, phone insurance, extended warranties too.

When you use AutoAid they basically sub-contract a local towing place who you pay, then they reimburse you. I don't think the local tow guy is going to tell them to bump you because your van was sign-written.... And how would they know you weren't on a personal trip when it broke down?

Too many degrees of separation to worry about it IMO

You no longer have to pay the breakdown company and claim it back. Auto aid now cover the recovery, you only pay your years membership. Stipulations are car is serviced and within a set age.

Auto Aids gone up to £59.99 a year now so I am looking elsewhere. Only reason I am still with them is I got a groupon offer last year which countered last years price increase. The £5 "admin" fee to renew takes the pi$$.

OH used them earlier in the year when the rear suspension became detached (stripped suspension arm) on her landy. Car felt very odd so she called them up, local lad who came out took a look, had a drive and told her it was fine to drive. She got 1 mile down the road (22 mile journey home on the motorway) and the arm came fully apart. Original call out at 7pm, after going out and helping a different guy drag it onto a low loader I got home after 1am. Granted the problem here was not AutoAid themselves but when we complained we didn't hear anything until a letter came though saying they were satisfied and had closed the complaint. She joined the AA for our trip to France this year.
