Hi All
I had quite a scary moment earlier in the wife's Mini Cooper ('09 1600 petrol) whereby the power steering cut out 4 times in the space of the last couple of miles to home. This was very dodgy when it happened mid corner.. We're not planning on driving it anywhere other than the garage this week (with both hands on the wheel at all times!).
The weird thing was just before the failures there was a random clicking noise from the footwell area, like switches having a bit of a brain fart.. frequency of the clicks was all over the shop but it must have clicked 100 times in the space of few minutes then the failures started (with accompanying fault symbol on dash each time).
These cars are fully electric assisted so no fluid etc. I've done a bit of googling and seems there was a recall on earlier models for this (2001-2007) but not ours..
Can anyone shed any light on likely suspects and/or what I'm looking at in terms of a repair bill should I have to start replacing pumps etc.?
Cheers
