Thanks in advance to the STW hive mind...

Anyone been to any of these resorts? Looking for somewhere good for 5-7 year-old kids. We like lots of activities in the mountains. We will be flying over so most likely not have a car while we're there.

-Neiderau
-Soll
-Kaprun
-Zell am See

We have a place near Zell. It's fantastic in Summer (and Winter), I'm here now.
Kaprun is ok but you'll be heading out most days up to Zell or surrounding areas.
I've only been to Soll in Winter but it's pretty enough.
With Zell you have the lake, ropes course up at Hinterglemm, lido in the town, loads really.
Also, check out Maria Alm (where we are)

Thanks everyone, looking at hotel/packages after staying in Saalbach last year - it was very stress free.

We're wondering if a hire car might be useful if staying in Zell am Zee

Pre child we visited Oetz and stayed at this place;

Fantastic location and loads of activities on offer in the local area, if you can arrange transport to get there from the airport.

By the time you pay for transfers for a family, a car might not be much dearer. You got the option to drive up the Glockner, Krimml waterfalls, the gorges and caves at Lofer, the ice caves at Werfen.

The challenge with DIY seems to be finding reasonable priced flights 🙁

My BIL and his family stayed in this hotel when their daughter was little (she's now eighteen!) and they said it was excellent. It's in Leogang and right at the lift station. You also get a free pass for the lifts AFAIK. But if you don't want to hire a car then Zell is probably the best option as it's the biggest of the resorts you mentioned.

Thanks for that, but I can't see anything about summer holidays on that site

We've had our summer 2 week family holiday in the Tyrol for the last 4 years, tho lad is a bit older - now 15. 2 locations, a week in each.
Ellmau is next village along from Soll. Nice enough, though not the best location.
Bearing in mind the children's age and your preference for flying, I'd recommend either Mayrhofen, in the Zillertal, or Seefeld/Leutasch. Latter is very chilled. We stayed at the Hotel Xander in Leutasch which I'd thoroughly recommend.
We were in the Stubai and Oetz valleys last year. Stayed at Hotel Erhart in Soelden, Oetztal, which again I'd thoroughly recommend. Made a great base for exploring the valley. Some fantastic walking out of Obergurgl up to the glaciers.
You can use someone like Inghams for flights, accommodation etc., but we tend to sort it all out ourselves direct. Much cheaper. All aBove are easily accessed by public transport from Innsbruck, are nice towns in their own right and certainly have enough to keep you occupied for a week or so at least.
If you're looking at hotels remember that many provide a local travel card foc for valley buses, swimming pool/spa and cable car discounts.
Hope you can work something out - have a great time.

Last year in Saalbach I'm guessing you benefited from the Joker card where you got loads of stuff included or free (like unlimited use of the lifts) by staying in certain accommodations.

If you want something similar have a look for towns or villages that offer the same thing. Schladming (and surrounding villages) has the Dachstein card when you stay in certain accommodation which gives free access to loads of things. Schladming itself is nice, but not the prettiest of mountain towns/villages. Some of the other villages Haus, Ramsau etc... are lovely. https://www.schladming-dachstein.at/en/summercard. Schladming is accessible by train too.

We're staying in Schladders though so we get easier access to the bike park.

For flights you could also look at flying in to Linz, would be cheaper than flying to Innsbruck or Salzburg.

Fly to Innsbruck and head to Obergurgl? You can hire a car for €120 for a week and it'll give you a few other options around the valley

Munich to Zell usually takes around 2hr 15min in a car.
You can get trains from the airport via Munich East, then Kufstein or Worgl, but the quickest you can do it is around 3hr 30mins if your flight lands at the right time.
I definitely get a car

Nearly pushed the button on a week in Seefeld, then saw that the lifts, pools etc were all extra cost.

I think we got a bit spoilt last year with the joker card making pretty much everything free in Saalbach

How about Zillertal. There is really good campsite in Aschau that have apartments called Aufenfeld. The campsite has so much for kids to do...adventure playground, trampolines, skate park, climbing wall, petting zoo, kids cinema and they even have a small bathing lake. IMayefhofen is nearby and there are hiking trails that start at the campisite.

Hotel Waldhoff in Zel am See was lovely. Extended family 3 generations, kids from 3 to 13. Package with Thompson, I think both times.
No hire cars. Trains and busses are very reliable. Great waterfall & gorge walks easily doable using busses and trains.
Public transport was pricey though.

Went with Colletts to Badia in the Dolomites.

We went to some great play areas up the lifts, some great scenery, lakes.
