So my active sub started making a weird farting noise and had no volume.

The cause of the issue soon became apparent!! 🤣 to be fair I've owned it 25yrs and the foam suspension has simply perished by the looks of it.

I've seen a repair kit but I'm not sure it'ss worth the hassle? https://northspeakerparts.co.uk/products/paradigm-10-foam-repair-kit-od-247mm-id-177mm

So how to go about choosing a new driver? All I know is it's a ten inch active sub "paradigm pdr-10" wit a 100w mono amp built in.

https://www.cnet.com/reviews/paradigm-pdr-10-review/

it's long since discontinued, and it was made in Canada so I think I'll just have to find a suitable 10" driver from another manufacturer, but I've no idea where to start.

You'd really need to match all the driver (Thiele/Small) parameters for it to work , and that might be very difficult - you could contact someone like Wilmslow Audio for advice, or a loudspeaker repair service, which might be the better option.

Or you could take advantage of the fact that things seem to be moving very slowly in the hifi market at the moment so you might find some bargains around.

I've ordered the repair kit.. Gotta be worth a punt for a tenner. Watched a few YouTube videos of people doing it and it looks faily easy actually. Started prepping the speaker! Ah yes I forgot about the repair thread!
