Looking to pick up a couple of audio books for an up-coming road trip.
I've tried Audible in the past but the price/choice wasn't brilliant and I don't like their subscription model

So what alternatives are you using?

Ypu can say a lot about Audible, but lack of choice is not one of them.

I've always been happy with Audible using their one book a month deal. My local library does free audiobook downloads as well which is pretty good although more of a faff. You might want to go on your county library site.

lack of choice is not one of them

I last used them about a year ago when I did my last road trip. I wanted to listen to an Ian Rankin novel (can't remember which specific one) but it was only available in Yiddish! I'll take another look...

Good call...will check that out. I need to download in advance though as I'll be out of range of any phone or wi-fi signals for most of the time I'm away..

Audible and, very occasionally, iTunes - but I'll compare prices if not available on the former as part of my one-a-month subscription.
