Is it time for a Son of Gifs you could watch all day? I have spent 20 minutes trying to see the latest offerings and it has crashed twice.
I am no techie so it may be my end but everything else works fine.
Just a suggestion, tell me to shut up if that is a more appropriate answer.
I think there are just a couple of large GIFs on the last two pages (haven't bothered to check, just a guess) - it crashed my browser trying to load them as well on not a totally crap computer (8GB ram)
Is it possible to halve the number of posts per page for specific threads?
A 'son of' won't help as it only loads a page at a time anyway.
It's the people posting 100mb+ gifs you need to worry about.
Some pages were over 1Gb - not great on a mobile connection and can take a while on broadband if you haven't got any of them in cache.
If you 'report post' the individual offending posts we can remove them. As Stato said, the number of pages isn't the issue, it'll be the same whether it's one page long or a hundred.
Probably not a thread you want to be viewing on a mobile connection, not much I can do about that. Animated .gifs are evil at the best of times.
Please could we have support for Imgur's gifv or Gfycat's format?
They recompress the gif and turn it into webm or something similar.
e.g.
http://gfycat.com/ClutteredJoyousClumber
Original Size 8.2mb
Compressed Size 239.7 KB
The loop the loop one seems to be crashing my laptop. Thought it was only me!
WebM? I wish!

I'm going to knock it on to a new page.
It's using >1.5GB of RAM and 15% of a 6 Core 4GHz CPU to display that last one!
I've noticed that trying to use the toolbar crashes my iPad, it's been doing it for weeks now.
Stopped viewing it after people started doing multiple gifs on one post, just kills my PC. Shame as it was bloody funny, sometimes.
One gif per post please...
