Just had four night storage heaters disconnected and have quite a few kilos of scrap wire littering my spare room. Should i just bin it or weigh it in. Dont know if scrap cable is worth anything.

DO NOT BIN IT!! REPEAT DO NOT!

Take it to your local scrap yard. I took 12.5 Kilos of Copper Pipe to the scrappy on Thursday and got £26 for it.

Definitely worth selling then. The high price of copper right now is why pikeys keep digging up buried wire and stripping abandoned buildings right now.

With insulation still on it it's worth around £1.10 per KG, stripped is about £3.50 per KG at the moment.

The high price of copper led to the Royal Mint producing steel cored 'copper' coins- 1p and 2p pieces. I wouldn't be at all surprised if a 100% copper 2p or 1p coin was worth more in scrap value than as a coin.
