Never had it before but my left foot appears to be more athletic than the rest of me.

Which is the lotion or potion for getting rid of it?

Cheers

I use this stuff

http://www.superdrug.com/Scholl/Scholl-Athletes-Foot-Powder-75g/p/390393#.VKO8R1V1-uY

It's a talc so I just pop some into each sock before wearing.

I've had good results with neat tea tree oil.
Then it's about washing and drying properly and wearing clean socks everyday.

Couldn't shift mine for ages, used Lamisil once and changed my socks 3 times a day and it went.

+1 for tea tree oil - this stuff works wonders after applying for a few days:

Lamisil Once - I recommend it for my patients, with a few pointers..

Squeeze half a tube on each foot, spread it all over between your toes, over your nails and soles of your feet...everywhere from the ankle bone down. let it soak in until dry, then do not wash it off for 3 days..

Put ALL of your socks in the hottest wash possble.

Put antifungal talc in All footwear, leave in for a while before removal.

lastly make sure that the very fisrt item of clothing you put on is your socks, or you could risk transfering the fungus to your gentlemans vegetables!

I used Daktarin (blue and yellow packet stuff) and a combination of the cream and the powder. The most important thing is to dry your feet, I use tissue to pat area dry after shower/excersize. Last time I got it it was not drying my feet properly after showering in the morning before work, nothing to do with sports.

I had it bad as a kid and Daktarin cleared it up, used both cream and powder.

Slight hijack, mine got in my toenail and the dr gave me antibiotics to shift the fungus but warned me they may upset my stomach, they did. Can tea tree oil shift it from nails? Can't get back to drs as it's non emergency for a bit and don't want it spreading

The advice to treat ALL your footwear is vital - you can buy antifungal spray as well, which may be more effective than the talc for spraying inside your shoes.

Be sure to wash your feet thoroughly every day and dry carefully between the toes before applying the cream. Canestan thrush cream has 2% of the fungicide so works faster than the athlete's foot version, which only has 1%.

King-ocelot, Tea tree oil is just as effective IME as asy over the counter nail laquer. First i would try the lamisil route as described my me earlier - A podiatirc surgeon suggested this approach first for athletes foot and fungal nails.
First file the effected nail all over, then use the Lamisil Once. If still fungal after 6 weeks, try the Tea tree oil. You have to apply it to the effected nail every day for approx 12 months, as tea tree oil will not kill the fungus, but hopefully the fungus wont grow on new nail that has been painted with tea tree - so effectively the fungus will just grow out while you paint it every day, and can see the clean nail growing out further. Its just as effective, and a whole lot less expensive (about 70% of treatments work). Of course you dnt have to use tea Tree, Lavender Oil will do just the same

To get rid of it Daktarin for a couple of days and talc in the shoes. To prevent it, take time to dry between your toes after washing, clean socks at least once a day and if possible change your footwear throughout the day.

I tried all the above with no luck, I was told by a specialist to stop eating mushrooms, it went within a week never to return .... I don't miss the mushrooms either

I'm trying to decide if that's a joke or not 😉

Tried Lamisil and it works very well but I found it was needed 'once' a year roughly! It did however, clear a nail infection I'd had for a couple of years when applied to the nail every day for a week. Much cheaper than the £27 brand name specific treatment the pharmacist offered and said probably wouldn't work. Good tip re Canesten globalti - will try that next time I have a flare-up.

Suddenly had it occur a couple of weeks ago, between my two outer toes on each foot. I just made sure I washed between the toes extra thoroughly, rubbing a bar of soap there, then used Tea Tree oil; I've got a couple of little roll-on phials of Tea Tree and Lavender oil from Holland and Barratt I bought some years ago, really handy for cuts, bites or skin irritation.
