You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hello,
We were planning to go to the Asturias Coast between Bilbao and Gijon as well as walking in the Picos d'Europa next week. However I am concerned that the weather will be cold and wet and with snow in the mountains. We would be camping. Has anyone been there this time of year?
Some friends went in April about 15 years ago to do multi day trek across. Snow arrived on day 1 and they couldn't go past the first refugio
Another mate rode across the Picos on his KTM enduro in early April recently and had a blast in the dry conditions. So it's highly variable depending on recent weather.
You could stick to the northern side near Cangas de Onis and do day walks knowing that the coast is very near?
🙂 I was about to start a thread about the area. Will be there for a couple of days at end of May. If anyone reads this and has any tips on cycling in the area (rode or mountain) then please feel free to comment here too.
WRT the weather I do know that the coastal strip can have a very different (maritime) weather to that experienced just 50 km inland. So if the weather seems rubbish then pack up and get yourself to the southern side of the coastal mountains. I bet you will find it dry there.
